The Admiral Nelson – DaventryAmazing food excellent service and really lovely and attentive staff have been before and will go again
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonAlways a pleasure dining at hopping hare..and to discover they’d put on an extra burger menu celebrating burgers, I was impressed. Everyone in my party had a different burger and they were all tasty! Service is the best…this is where many places fail but the hare can’t be beaten on this. I’ll be back soon for more.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonIt was our first visit here and we were not disappointed. There were four adults in our party for lunch on Saturday and we all had items from the burger menu. They were all delicious, great chips and slaw and very generous portions. We had to halve the desserts as we did not want to miss out but could not have managed a whole portion each. The service was really friendly from all the staff who looked after us and overall it was great value. A stroll along the canal path afterwards was lovely too. We will definitely be back, as the main menu looks fab too. I highly recommend this to anyone. The only slight issue is the small amount of parking. We were very lucky that someone was leaving when we arrived, or we would not have had a space.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryReally good food and excellent service. Can’t fault it.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonBooked for a lunchtime meal for 5 (2 children). Food was excellent, atmosphere was lovely and the team were very friendly and keen to help. Will definitely be back!

The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonEvening meal for 2 to celebrate a birthday. Food and service were excellent, and the location is lovely, being beside a canal lock. Will definitely be back again.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryWe had a beautiful meal at the Hopping Hare. All our courses were delicious, particularly the fillet of beef I had which melted in the mouth. There is a very relaxed atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff and food was served promptly and with a smile, despite being busy. We will definitely be going again. We also stayed at the hotel over night, lovely room, small , but all we needed and beautifully presented and clean. Breakfast the following morning was delicious. Overall I couldn’t fault either the stay or the meal.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonThe food here is excellent, and very reasonable prices for the great quality of the food. Starters range between £5 -12, mains at between £19 - 29, and desserts are usually about £10 with the cheese at a little more. I have found the food consistently very good, having brought many friends here, and can recommend (as I have it whenever it’s on the menu) the brisket. However they present it, (it’s always so appealing with a number of vegetables included in the plate’s design), it is always as visually attractive as it is delicious to eat. The meat melts in the mouth, and is completely delicious. On my last visit, I had the chicken breast. Chicken can be so dry, but it was succulent, tender, and the gravy/jus was divine. As for the dessert, well as wonderful as the mains are, the desserts shine. The pastry chef is inspired! I tend to pick the desserts which have a number of elements. They are exquisite, and despite having eaten in many different places including a number of Michelin starred restaurants around the country, the desserts here are some of the best of all. His/her ganaches, mousses, cremes are smooth, rich, and perfectly set to the consistency they are meant to be. The sorbets (all made from scratch in house) are to die for. Each dessert is put together from wonderfully complimentary flavours (nothing could be called so-so because everything on the plate fits together so well), that however many small pieces of each element you have in your mouth at once, nothing overpowers any of the other flavours. Added to that, the design of each element of the dessert on the plate is so attractive to the eye, it feels like you are eating in a top city restaurant. If you have even the slightest sweet tooth (there is usually a lovely and well thought out cheese option if you don’t) try one of these desserts. To date I think I’ve tried around 6/7 different versions over the last year, and every single one has included upwards of 5 different elements which have all made my taste buds do somersaults of joy!
