The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonBooked a table last minute for Sunday 30th, food was lovely, the roast beef was melt in the mouth! Great portion size too
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonAs usual, everything about the Hopping Hare was first class. The only thing that would have improved our evening was not being on a table adjacent to the bar, - which somewhat detracted from the intimacy of the evening. Upon being shown to the table on arrival at 7.00pm, and asking if there was anything further in the restaurant, we were informed that all of the other unoccupied tables were booked. One fully appreciates that someone has to sit o the outer tables but, at such an early time, having booked six days prior, one might have thought that it would not have taken a great deal of effort to accommodate us on an alternative table and, if necessary, relay. Apart from that - everything about the experience was perfect.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonCatered brilliantly for 4 coeliacs/gluten free diners, thank you. Would be great to see some English wine on the wine list. Very friendly, efficient service.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonWe had a lovely meal at The Hopping Hare. The menu was limited but there was something for everyone. The food was beautifully cooked and well presented. The steak and pork loin were very tender and the portion sizes were just right. The staff were also attentive. We would not hesitate to recommend it.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonWe have always considered The Hopping Hare as the best restaurant in Northampton & consequently have celebrated many birthdays & anniversaries here for almost 20 years. Unfortunately our last visit was very disappointing. Two of the party had the most expensive steaks on the menu which did not look very appetising, & the supposedly triple fried chips were pale, soft & anaemic looking. My vegan daughter & her boyfriend both ordered mushroom risotto from the vegan menu & the order was taken by the man I presume to be the owner. When their mains came out they were both given what looked like tomato & mascarpone risotto....with no explanation. When challenged we were told by one waiter that they were changing the menu the next day & didn't have any mushrooms, & by a second waiter that the vegan menu had been changed ages ago!! Why then, did the manager take the order?? The other vegan option wasn't suitable, so they were both offered double portions of soup as their main. As they had already had soup for their starter, this meant their entire meal consisted of 3 portions of soup each. They did take the cost of the vegan food off the final bill, & the 2 waiters who served us were very friendly & helpful. The manager however, was a different story & didn't make any apology. I found him to be very unfriendly & unwelcoming. I don't think we'll be going back, which is a shame.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonSuperb as always . Staff pleasant , jolly and polite . Food was magnificent as usual . Maybe pork loin portion came up a bit mean on portion size for the price it’s ticketed at . All starters delightful well presented and delicious for all the group . Wines sadly are expensive . It would be so nice to get a bottle under £20 now . We would buy more too ! Pricing of deserts starting to make you think - Nah , I’ll not bother for that thank you .
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonThe food was amazing. Everything was prepared and cooked beautifully. We visited because of the locally sourced , quality ingredients and it did not disappoint. The decor and venue was lovely, however I was hoping for more of a theme. The website listed local suppliers which I thought was a huge selling point. I was hoping to feel/see this in the restaurant somewhere but it felt very commercial. Unfortunately, one manager was dealing with a customer as we walked in. She was very loud and I was embarrassed for the man she was dealing with. He was quiet and asking questions discreetly. He wanted something sorting in his hotel room to which the manager kept repeating ‘I can’t do anything about it until 10pm.’ When the gentleman left, she laughed about it to her colleague, so rude! Now feeling really on edge and the atmosphere tense, we sat to enjoy our meal while she stormed around the bar. She was clearly very busy but needed to calm down and take a breath! Our waitress, possibly called Lynn, was really lovely, helpful and we had really great service. We will visit again, (although I’m sure the gentleman in the hotel will not.) Hopefully it was just an isolated incident and next time we will feel more welcome.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonYet another lovely family celebration at this welcoming restaurant. The food is always excellent as is the friendly and efficient service. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be back!
The Hopping Hare – Northamptonbest food in Northampton (fact) Great relaxing place! Already looking forward to my next visit.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonFantastic food, very nicely presented in a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The waiter was just the right kind of attentive. Would recommend and as The Hopping Hare is almost on my doorstep will definitely revisit.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonFood was outstanding. Tasty and flavoursome . Sunday lunch was spot on, pink beef was delicious. Chicken dish was delicious too. Not cheap but well worth the money, all ingredients were fresh and perfectly cooked.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonHH never lets you down. Service great and food is delicious. Best lemon tart I've ever had.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonLovely food, well presented. Not rushed service. Starters a bit on the pricey side. Good separate menu for gluten free (and another for dairy free).
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonThoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Food, service and ambience was excellent. Our guests who often dine in some of Londons finest were equally impressed. The special of cod cheek and pork rillettes was a real standout for me.
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonExcellent food & even more amazing service Waitress & waiter were amazing well done all
The Hopping Hare – NorthamptonExcellent service and very tasty Sunday lunch. Lots of choice for mains and desserts. Would highly recommend.
The Royal George – Market HarboroughThere were eight in our party for Sunday lunch. All the meat eaters thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Some said it was the best they'd had. The two vegetarians also enjoyed their meals, but would have preferred more choices, in particular, they would have liked a vegetarian nut roast as it was Sunday but had to make do with risotto (which they felt was a bit predictable). The staff were busy and worked really hard, so it would have been helpful if the menu had stated which items were suitable for vegetarians, rather than having to keep asking. It's not our first visit here (there were more veggie choices in previous visits), and doubtless won't be our last, but if we have the non meat eaters with us next time, we may choose to go elsewhere.
