Went to Gennars for the first time last night and was very impressed. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was lovely. I will definitely be going there again very soon!
Dom’s Italian – Poulton-Le-Fylde8 of us (including 2 veggies) were looking for somewhere nice to eat out last weekend. We came across this great looking venue on the web. But unfortunately only 1 of the 15 mains was suitable for veggies. not really a great choice in this day and age. So went to Guys Thatched Hamlet instead....lovely food - great choices including many vegetarian options.
Shard Riverside Inn – Poulton-Le-FyldeAfter reading the comments on this page saying how good China Red Restaurant was I decided to book a table for a party of six. We decided to order the Banquet - first we ordered drinks in the waiting area and then after a lenghty wait we were shown to our table in this large room painted in white - it did as someone commented look like a school canteen - l looked around for the table with the food but was told that the food would be served at our table - so we waited with anticipation for the food to arrive instead the staff were only interested in taking more orders for the highly priced drinks, eventually the soup arrived which tasted like hot water with a few vegetables floating on top- then followed scraggy chicken wings - more bones than meat! The rest of the food that followed was really to poor to comment about. As for calling the meal a Banquet well - l've had better meals at my local Chinese takeaway at a fraction of the price. The total price for our party came to £120 and considering most of our drinks was water - we all thought was far too expensive needless to say we certainly will not be going there again.
China Red – Poulton-Le-FyldeI really enjoyed my meal here. Went with a party on Saturday night and was surprised at how pleasant the restaurant is inside. The food was very good, and although the service was a little uncomfortable, they were friendly and efficient enough. I will definitely go back here it is most certainly one of the better restaurants in Poulton.
Thai by Night – Poulton-Le-FyldeI would recommend Cyprus its out of this world they have the best kebabs even if you don't like kebabs normally try Cyprus kebabs as they are nothing like the other kebab shops and the mayonnaise is absolutely amazing try it you will never look back
Cyprus TakeAway – Poulton-Le-FyldeThis delicatessen is a breath of fresh air to local foodies, starved of quality food. Making the best of local produce in all their dishes! They sell lots of great foodie gifts including a really well selected choice of wines and have a fully stocked deli counter with loads of local meats and cheeses as well as a great selection of continental produce. I love their sandwiches on fresh bread and their croissants in the morning!

China Red – Poulton-Le-FyldeAgree with the previous writer. Nice place for lunch but haven't tried their other times. It's a bit cramped and rustic but they are slowly improving it, including an outside area at the back. The food is all made to order from fresh and it's very tasty with a decent sized portion. They seem to do well in take-away breakfasts as well. They told us they work long hours starting at 4am to bake the bread, roast the beef etc.

China Red – Poulton-Le-FyldeI don't know what all the fuss is about with China Red. It is clearly only aimed at getting big parties of people in who get a bit too drunk at the weekend. The food quality is not very consistent I have been around a dozen times and it is never the same. Also the service slips when it gets busier. When compared with other venues nearby I always feel let-down by the staff. And my worst gripe is the rice - it's all clumpy and at times cold. There are plenty of other restaurants to try in Poulton so if you are looking for quality then try elsewhere.
China Red – Poulton-Le-FyldeThis is a fab little deli/cafe in Carleton, they have an extensive menu all food is freshly prepared the sandwiches, crepes cakes etc are to die for, they also have a wine tasting evening and Tapas Night I am yet to try these events but if the lunches are anything to go by then they will be great. If you haven't tried it then you must.
Salt of the Earth – Poulton-Le-FyldeMy partner and I have just had a very disappointing experience at the Shard Riverside Inn. Our order was taken after a 15 minute wait and having received the starter 20 minutes later we waited another hour before the main meals reached our table. One of them was incorrect. At this point we left without eating the mains and were not at least charged for our starter and 2 drinks. At no point in the hour before we received our main did anyone ask if we wanted a drink our inform us about the progress on our mains. In other words, the service was appalling, although the food appeared to be fine. This is a real shame as we have just moved into the area and were looking forward to taking advantage of the Shard and enjoying its unique location. We will not be returning. I would appreciate it if you could forward this to the Shard so that they can discuss how to improve their organisation. Thanks.

Castle Gardens – Poulton-Le-FyldeWe took a visiting friend here on Friday night and were very impressed. We sat on the lower tables, which was great for 2 of us, but not so much for my 6 foot husband! The service was impeccable, as was the food. Can wholeheartedly recommend!k
