Came here doing a tour of the "Good Beer Guide" pubs in Lancashire. Excellent pint of well kept Thwaites Nutty Black and Cumberland sausage/mash to die for - thoroughly recommended.

Smiths Arms – Prestonrecommend i think not. terrible service, the customer is definitely not right burnt food would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
Porcinis – PrestonI think we must have been very unlucky! We are an easy going family and have never had to complain about restaurant food like this before. There were eleven of us, and the starters took three quarters of an hour to arrive. When we finally got them, one had been forgotten, and didn't arrive until after everyone else had finished. The main courses were either over-cooked, or in some cases, BURNT! I was told that my seafood crepe was burnt because it had been in the oven, and that it was ok on the inside. Actually it wasn't ok on the inside; the prawns were rubbery when I tried one. I prefer mine less well cooked. If this is Italian cooking at it's finest, I think I'll give it a miss.
Porcinis – PrestonThis is my favourite Thai restaurant! Their menu is vast with a great choice and very reasonable prices. Everytime we go we always choose the banquet which has never let us down yet. It is a small, intimate restaurant with a lovely Thai lady who is more than helpful and very pleasant. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Thai Orchid The – PrestonFriendly staff make children very welcome Good local Italian pizza pasta try the special board normally quite good - starter main course bottle wine £50 good value for money
Checcos – PrestonWe visited Pinocchio's last night for hubbies birthday and the 1st time for him - we live about 1 mile away. We were seated as we arrived and drinks brought to the table. I was amazed that the restaurant was so busy for a wintry Tuesday night! Our starters arrived within 15 mins of ordering - I had spicy chicken wings done with chilli, garlic and peppers off the main menu, OK but not fantastic and hubby had salmon fish cakes with chili dip off the specials menu, which again were OK nothing special........ For mains I had scallop and scampi tail thermidor off the specials menu served with boiled rice, boring but nice carrots and broccoli - again just nice but not WOW! Hubby had guinea fowl with mushroom ravioli off the specials - the pastry was a little too thick for his liking though and again no WOW factor. We were too full for sweets but they did sound good. With one bottle of peroni and a lime and soda, the bill came to £51.40. Nice restaurant but not our favourite.
Pinocchios – Prestonas a regular visitor to the restaurant,i honestly can say that I've never had a bad experience here. the food is always excellent, the staff are brilliant, with a good atmosphere. best italian for miles around.
Tinos – PrestonA truly wonderful local Chinese restaurant. The owners are a husband and wife from two regions of China. Spotlessly clean premises, nice surroundings and only 2 minutes from the A59 dual carriageway (exit at New Longton and follow Longton signs). The food is always well prepared, my children love the crispy chilli beef. A regular stop over when we've had a long hard day and want a tasty tea. Not expensive either. Additionally, the male owner loves eating out and will share his recommendations of other premises, particularly in Manchester,
Longton House – PrestonI have been to the italian orchard on several occasions and everytime the food has been excellent and therefore i would recommend its to anyone!
Italian Orchard – PrestonBeautiful restaurant in lovely surroundings. We ate there sat 13 Feb. I had the chicken. It was lovely but not enough sauce for both my friend and i . We think chicken can be a bit dry without the appropriate sauce and there definitely wasn't enough on. Everything else was lovely. My hubby had cheese and biscuits but they came without butter. He asked for butter and the waitress just plonked 2 pats of butter down for him, now i think that should have come in a little ramekin dish as the hotel is so posh and eating out these days is expensive. One of the young girl waitresses was very serious and could have had a bit more of a smile on her face. The welcome bucks fizz was lovely a very nice touch. Would definitely come back again. We travelled about 30 minutes to get here so it was worth it.
Haighton Manor Country House Hotel – PrestonThe location was surprisingly rural and the design / layout of the building was beautiful. The food was very good with exceptional presentation. The only disappointment was that my wife and I were overcharged for an extra pint of beer which we hadn't ordered. We didn't notice until after leaving the restaurant. Upon speaking to my parents, it occurred that they too had experienced overcharging except with food....therefore be careful!
Italian Orchard – PrestonBetter than all the rest, ouside of Italy I've never had such freshly made, tasty, smooth, and interesting ice cream - and the tastes vary depending upon which ideas the owners ( a mother and daughter team) come up with. Espresso, honey, honeycomb, liquorice, jelly bean, fresh strawberry, and so on...always a massive choice available, definitely the best place to stop for a bit of gelato on the A59. Just South of Preston. Oh, and they can keep a tab on your kids' birthdays for a free ice cream sundae!
Tootsies – Prestonvisited checcos a few times and really enjoy it. somewhere young and modern on the outskirts of city centre. atmosphere is always buzzing, bar area is great for pre/post dinner drinks. adore the cocktails. makes for a great night out not just a meal out.

Pinocchios – PrestonI have visited Angelo's several times since their refurb in November. My first visit was with my Mum ad friend where we sampled the new menu options..I had the Ceaser Salad which was delicious! I returned for my works do mid Dec and the service and food for 35 of us was excellent! I there fore returned for my birthday two weeks ago where 10 of us sat on a lovely round table and had a fantastic night. The decor is classy yet comfortable and the staff attentive and polite. I recently found out Angelo's is part of the same group as San Marco (Much Hoole).......enough said! Keep up the good work!
