Big improvement on the refurbishment Night and day from before. Food and staff just as before excellent. We went as a family of 4. Great idea with the jug of curry being served separately for the katsu chicken curry. Look forward to more meals being added to the menu adding more variety.

Not quite so impressed with the lack of any vegetarian options on the menu, in this day and age with so many people opting for veggie meals I feel this was a big oversight, also, the waiting staff were a little too quick to ask if we wanted to order drinks, hadn't even got our coats off! Having said that, the food and atmosphere was great, long may it continue.
The Whitchaff Inn – RawtenstallNestled in the fold of the Rossendale valley an old coaching house that water fed and stabled travelling men on horseback. As undergone an extensive modernisation to welcome all contemporaries for their extensive food and drinks menu, served in somewhat salubrious surroundings complete with a beer garden affording great views for summer days. Good service from helpful hostesses we enjoyed our meals washed down with a somewhat rather pricey wine if you stray from their house offerings. All in a good all rounder, don’t leave it late as kitchen closes circa 8pm.

The octopus was tender and fresh, we thought the king prawn was six prawns only to move the ginger and chilli aside to discover one prawn, cut in half, it was the size of a lobster, juicy and freshly char grilled. We also had dishes we had last time, lamb ribs in bbq sauce, mushrooms in gorganzola sauce, my brothers favourite, fennel sausages and 6 fresh oysters of course. Have never had a dish we didn't like. If you like Italian tapas then this is the place to eat. Great food, great service, its not cheap but well worth the price.

A’Vucciria – RawtenstallCame New Year’s Day to get some food with the family celebrating new year The food was wonderful and will be definitely coming again Only drawback was I know it was New Year’s Day and you was very busy and we understood and respected the waiting times But as we was finishing up eating we was given a push instead of asking if we would like a dessert because the next group booked for our table had arrived I’d have been very understanding if we had dragged out eating our food but the wait time for the food (1 hr) was the reason yourselves was behind and didn’t really appreciate that aspect of the experience However I’m sure it’s not a usual thing and was under pressure because of the busy day I should imagine we will be back soon as the food was so good Thank you

A’Vucciria – RawtenstallThe food was great, although some of the prices for drinks didn’t make sense - in a lot of cases it’s cheaper to get 2 x half pints rather than a full pint. The lasagne was also too oily but that could be personal preference. Unfortunately the service was a let down. Only 1 member of staff appears to know what they are doing, whilst the others just walk around pretending to be busy: we ended up having to order drinks at the bar after 20 minutes of waiting to be served, and food we had to ask a waitress if we could place our order.
The Whitchaff Inn – RawtenstallMyself, my husband and daughter booked the Whitchaff for New Years Eve and were not disappointed. The food was lovely and beautifully presented. I had smoked salmon and crayfish to start, followed by Seared rump of lamb on a bed of sautéed potatoes and green beans and peas. To finish I had the lemon cheesecake. The Whitchaff has recently undergone a major refurbishment which has made it even more cosy/inviting than it already was. We will definitely be attending to eat there again. The staff were very friendly and obliging also. Thank you for a lovely evening.
The Whitchaff Inn – RawtenstallThis is not a full review, just a comment about the current booking system. I booked online for a party of 3 on Saturday afternoon, and received a confirmatory email. Unfortunately the staff were unable to find us a table and even showed us an iPad image of their full bookings till 9.30pm, to demonstrate the impossibility of fitting us anytime in the next 7 hours. We accepted this information and did not the blame the staff member at all. Thankfully we were able to book at the Cotton House on their online booking system and had a lovely meal there half an hour later!
