88 is our favourite Asian restaurant in Leeds. Indeed it is our favourite of all Leeds restaurants. The menu presents itself as "Pan-Asian" rather than strictly Chinese, and they do manage amazingly well with a varied list that includes Thai, Malaysian, Japanese, and Vietnamese dishes. But it is as a Chinese restaurant that 88 is really first-class. In order to cater to Chinese students and other native Chinese customers, 88 has developed an untranslated Chinese menu, which the staff will translate for you in its entirety if you wish. This menu is fantastic, including such things as interesting soups, meat and poultry dishes, sautéed tofu with minced pork, and various kinds of whole fish. We have eaten at 88 now on at least two dozen occasions, and we have never been disappointed, especially as we have explored the menu more fully and become more adventurous. Great value as well.
