About Owd Nell’s Tavern

This thatched tavern sits beside the Lancaster Canal at Bilsborrow, south of Garstang. It's part of the Guys Thatched Hamlet leisure complex thats been owned and run by the Wilkinson family for 30 years and incorporates an Italian restaurant, cricket ground, crown green bowling, ice cream parlour and accommodation in 65 ensuite rooms, some of which include double spa baths and wet room-style showers. The menu features homemade British pub classics like their famous steak & kidney pudding, Whale size cod and chips and open roast beef sandwiches. Owd Nell's is cask marque accredited and their cask ales include Boddingtons, Thwaites and Jennings plus a great range of craft beers. There's room for around 200 diners inside the pub plus the same again outside on canalside patios or the al fresco roof deck. Watch out for the series of festivals and events that run throughout the year.

OMG our experience was just amazing from start to finish , the atmosphere the staff and wow wow wow the food was amazing will wholeheartedly recommend the home made cheese and onion pie and the cumberland sausage with butter mash. Dessert we had was lemonchillo cheesecake and ice cream and apple pie and custard again was just as amazing and all the meals were very well presented The building was very quirky inside and out plenty of outside eating areas as well as being rightbeside the canal. Thanks once again Guys and Gals for making our experience great we loved it and will definetly be back

Loving the new normal Owd Nell’s Tavern! Covid safe, table ordering, table service, one way system, hand sanitisers, spacious, outdoor heated undercover areas by the canal and the food and service was spot on, and it was busy! Thank you Owd Nell.

Iconic pub and meeting place in the Fylde Coast/Garstang. Beautiful spot by the canal, great for a walk after lovely food and a pint.

I went to Owd Nell's today with two friends, celebrating a friends birthday. We all had a lovely meal and drinks, the service was very good with friendly polite staff. We are looking at having our works Christmas party there this year.

What a fantastic spot Owd Nells' / Guys Thatched Tavern is on a sunny day. Just by the canal with a big outside seating area. " restaurants to choose from as well as lots of quality real ale. Very easy to get too just off the A6 near Garstang.

The ambiance of this establishment is intoxicating and the management have managed to preserve that magical atmosphere for all the years I have been dinning here. The quality of the staff and food is superb and never deviates in its excellence. Ian Feltell.

Yesterday a group of friends and myself visited the oyster festival and what a great day all be it for a late lunch in the pub. We started off in the oyster tent which was great, the oysters went down a treat. The kids were all having a great time. Unfortunately when it came to the pub the food was mediocre although my courses were tasty, the clam chowder and the chicken roulade which was more of a breast than a roulade was very tasty. My friends had the roast beef dinner. When it arrived the beef was all fat and very chewy. The manager was excellent and after he went to talk with the chef he informed us that all the topside had gone and that they were now using the striploin which isn't usually that fatty and tough. we didn't leave disappointed as the manager did a great job. This place was buzzing and a great day was had by all.

What a place, had a great day out here on Saturday!!!! I have never been here before and wasn’t that interested in looking around too be honest but I am really glad I did and I will definitely be returning with my friends to try the Italian and have a few drinks in the buzzing pub, only thing that I would say is that there was no where to find out what’s on and the staff didn’t seem to know much information either!!!!
