Really impressed with typical South African service like we are used to.
Food was really good and we went back 3 times during our stay at Pine Lake.
Thoughrally recommended for lunch or dinner.
Will definitely go back when in the area.
All the best for the future.

We've visited the Tavern several times before, but our experience under this new management was by far the best. The decor has always been lovely, but this time the food was excellent, the service superb, and we were all of us struck by the warmth of the welcome from Sam. We'll definitely be making this a regular haunt from now on.

Great that the pub has reopened with lovely welcoming staff and a good selection of beers and ciders. So far I have only had the pizza from the menu as it is just sooooo good, and really worthy of a good pizzeria rather than pub grub.
Well done all!

We came for dinner on the Taverns first Saturday of opening up after lock down. The place was really busy and loud. We arrived early and shown to our table which was great... the reduced menu was presented to us and all the dishes on there sounded amazing. I chose the spiced carrot fritters followed by the breaded chicken with mac n Cheese. The fritters were the perfect combination of spices and perfect and the chicken was tender served with gorgeous comforting mac and cheese.i could fault them dishes at all. My partner had the black pudding scotch egg followed by the lamb. He assured me, and by the look of his empty plate that his meal was gorgeous. My son had a pizza and ate the lot..
The staff were lovely and obviously very busy but they were attentive without being intrusive which takes skill and all out courses were served in a timely manor.
now for the negatives.. the noise.. there was a dog constantly barking throughout our visit. It was situated in the main bar with its owner who gave it the odd yank on the collar every time it barked but that did nothing to stop it. Other dinners also commented. I love dogs and have no objection to them being in a bar but I don’t want to listen to one yapping all through my dinner, they need to be well behaved. The other issue I found was children running in and out to the table near us... it’s not the pubs fault that parents don’t teach their children manners, I understand that. But to have them swing on mine and my sons chair every time they ran screaming past was a bit much. Again, not the pubs fault but it made the whole experience less than enjoyable. I would definitely go back because the food was beautiful and I never got to try the desserts( my partner was ready to kill the dog by this point) but we won’t be going on a Saturday evening.
