Maureens Caribbean Eat In Or Takeaway – RoundhayI take my wife and daughter here on a regular basis. We have been eating here for about 15 years. Always a great dining experience. Now in the good food guide. You don't get in that for nothing.
Raja’s – RoundhayLove the food here. the main dishes are tasty and the choice of accompaniments are excellent. Enjoy the informal atmosphere whilst drinking the house red!
Rico’s – RoundhayMy wife and I consider ourselves as experts when it comes to curry. We have dined at almost all of the top curry restaurants in the country for many a long year. Most recently we have eaten at the Red Fort, Ziaka, Chutney Marys, Bombay Brassiere etc. etc in London and at places such as the Shimla Pinks, Agraah and Akbars nearer home. We are undoubted in our opinion that the Nawaab Khan Restaurant in Oakwood, Leeds by far surpasses the food quality of other Indian food outlets. The outstanding taste of the starters and main courses are complimented by what I can only describe as superb draught beer and lager. Now that is rare for an Indian restaurant. On our last visit, we ate the main course dishes of Lamb and cauliflower and Sajids' special with aloo paratha, poppadoms and vegetable pilau rice. The meal was top class in every respect and the friendly service was excellent. Suffice to say that we are reserving our table for our special occasions and parties on a regular basis. Well done Sajid, keep up the good work.
Nawaab Khan – RoundhayEating curry is one of our favourite past-times. My wife and I have eaten at virtually every Indian Restaurant in Leeds but we are very priveleged to have the Nawaab Khan just down our road. We were very impressed when the establishment was under the Jinnah's chain of ownership. Now, under independent management, I can honestly say that Sajid, the new owner, has achieved even greater heights of curried excellence. The menu is exhaustive with hundreds of varied speciality dishes such as Nosheri Lamb, Achari Chicken and Nihari Lamb which I find myself ordering time and time again. These dishes are all simply superb in terms of their taste, variety of flavour and quality of ingredients. They are much more authentic than the usual post-pub curry fare however there is still the option of more traditional tandoori dishes, bhunas, kormas etc which again are well above average. The interior is what you'd expect from an Indian restaurant but the service is excellent - very personal, friendly, prompt and attentive without feeling too intrusive. Poppadoms or side dishes are often offered as complementary. It is not the cheapest curry around but you really do get what you pay for - the tastiest, most varied, authentic and interesting curry experience in Leeds by far!
Nawaab Khan – RoundhayMy partner and I are becoming regulars at the Nawaab Khan simply because we cannot find a better curry anywhere. The Nawaab Khan food is outstanding in every respect and is far superior to any curry we have tasted in many years of eating out. We vary our starters and the Chicken Mackhani is my favourite main course meal and my partner loves the Afghani Lamb. The Nan Bread and Stuffed Parathas are fabulous.
Nawaab Khan – RoundhayI consider myself to be a purveyor of Indian food, having had plenty of English slop in my student days, and having perfected a finer nose and taste range with travelling to India and Asia over the last 10 years for business. Whilst in the east I have been fortunate enough to experience the true tastes of fine Indian cuisine, I can honestly say there are not many restaurants that come even remotely close to providing the taste sensations that these quality dishes should provide. Akbars have always been the nest bet in Leeds, although you can still go to Akbars and order 4 different mains and I guarantee they will all taste slightly similar to each other. However at last Nawaab Khan provides the best Indian food I have ever had in this country by a long shot. The menu is vast, and the cooking is exquisite. I always opt for the deluxe Thali, which is a combination of 6 random dishes created by the chef. Every dish tastes completely different to the others, with soft fluffy mushroom rice. My partner opts for the fish dish, which is perfectly cooked and spiced. Honestly if you understand Indian food you will be hard pressed to better this place. The atmosphere at times is lacking, but that is due to the large size of the restaurant, I always found the staff to be very attentive and helpful and do not hesitate in recommending this place.
Nawaab Khan – RoundhaySince taking over from Jinna group. Sajid has made this our number one choice for Asian cuisine, the service is always friendly and attentive, the menu extensive and interesting, with a substantial buffet also available. A point of note is the number of small groups of ladies who feel comfortable to go there for their favourite meals, indicating the professional attitude of the staff
Nawaab Khan – RoundhayOur family party meal was at the Nawaab khan restaurant and it was excellent - we intend to become regulars at this venue
Nawaab Khan – RoundhayThis establishment is now known as the Nawaab Khan Restaurant and very, very good it is too. Family run with Sajid at the helm, the food is quite superb. I ate fish pakora starter and chicken nihari with pilau rice for main course. Everything was top class and was well worth my visit. I shall be going back for my birthday party.
Nawaab Khan – Roundhay14 of us recently celebrated a 60th birthday here. The food was fabulous and we were made to feel so welcome. All the staff were friendly, smiling & attentive. We felt at ease and weren't rushed in any way. Marvellous
