Been to this restaurant a few times now and cannot fault it. Service is amazing and food is delicious. You even get your chips in a wee cute mini-fryer basket! Worth a visit for the cocktails alone!!

I've never been and was excited to come up from London to go and visit what is meant to be a good steak house. We arrived to an empty restaurant, slightly grotty with second hand menus, dirty decor and not the most attentive staff. There were three of us and we decided to order two of their biggest steaks between three of us, 6-7ibs worth of red meat. We were informed that we could not do this and that we had to order a steak per person. Not so accommodating for a quiet restaurant in the middle of a credit crisis. We ended up leaving and going to a place close by, The Waterside Inn where the steaks were half the price And excellent. Go to snooks if you want ripped off by staff that don't realise the importance of exceeding expectations. If you're thinking of going to Snooks, don't, try The Waterside Inn, the staff were 100% more attentive and accommodating. Snooks, you should know that business is hard for everyone and you should never let people walk out your restaurant because you have 'laws' or rules. If someone is not satisfied with something there is more chance of them sharing the bad experience than if they have a good experience. I will NEVER visit your restaurant again, your loss as my friend just booked a table of 20 for Xmas where the booking should have gone to you.

Thank you for a lovely Sunday Lunch - food was delicious; service first class and great value. Mum said she enjoyed her soup - 'she couldn't have made better herself'' a compliment indeed!!!

Rhymers Tower Coffee Room – Borders

This establishment very obviously and blatantly tried to rip me off. Assuming I was drunk, as it was late on a Saturday night, they gave me the incorrect change, intentionally, blatantly,

We stayed here and were thoroughly impressed. In the best part of town the rooms are spacious, the staff are excellent have a drink in the bar and relish breakfast!I would definitely stay again. we had the pleasure of meeting the owners who are lovely, down to earth and very hospitable. I asked for a sandwich out of hours and was swiftly provided with a delicious ham and cheese affair. I recommend the Etterick for a comfortable stay especially if you have children.

Royal Ettrick Hotel – Edinburgh

Our party of 7 didn't have the opportunity to sample anything from The Oven Door, due to the rudeness of the owner.Family friendly this place is not. We only asked if we could push two tables together to facilitate everyone sitting together, however were sternly advised by the owner that this could not happen, as it was HER policy that tables should not be moved!!! The premises were empty inside and movement of tables would have caused absolutely NO hazard. We were astounded. Perhaps if she had explained her reasoning we would have understood, but her disgusting manner, ensured that we did not want to stay a minute longer.Peebles is a lovely place and I just hope that not too many visitors to the area, encounter this unpleasant woman- lessons in civility are strongly recommendedLuckily, due her ungracious behaviour, we sought to eat elsewhere and discovered 'The Crown' - where the whole family were welcomed with great food and friendly staff.

Been here twice now(a year interval between visits).Owner very friendly chap.Food seems to have changed-this time round, much richer so we didn't manage to finish all our meals. All of us enjoyed the food however. Will try to go back whenever we're up in Edinburgh.

Fine dinning at its best. Having eaten in many of the popular restaurant this by far is best in the west of scotland. Value for money most certainly.Attention to detail certainly in every way. You enter a stranger and leave a friend. Staff give 100 to all guest also directors always in attendance they go that extra mile to make your eating experience special. look i could bang on but try it for yourself you will not be disappointed

Piccolo Mondo Renfrew – Argyll and Bute

hi ive just visited the restaurant for the first time reading the website and the window it stated adult lunch buffet was £8.95 and children was £5.95 seemed ok till it came time to pay the bill when they stated my children aged 10,11,12 weren't children after all but adults and we were charged the adult price i asked where it stated that kids were classed as adults and was told they dont need to advertise that i feel ripped off just as well i had enough money to pay the extras cost

Stunning setting on the banks of the River Dee at Banchory. There were cosy fires when we went for afternoon tea. 3 tiered cake stands had scones with jam and cream, mini meringues, carrot cake, fruit cake and tray bakes. In the process of being upgraded by the new owners, so very excited to see the results. Definitely somewhere to take your visitors.

Banchory Lodge Hotel – Aberdeen

The lunch was supposed to be 5 courses, but we had the starter and main course, the waiter vanished for a while and returned with the bill, we were not offered ice cream or coffee, but were charged £3 for a bottle of water that we did not ask for, but assumed it was included, which costs 59p in Asda, the chicken was hard and dry and the vegetables very overcooked, nothing was very nice there. we won't be going again.

Merrick Hotel and Indian Restaurant – Dumfries

i was in there last weekend, it appears to have changed hands, no familiar faces and they even got rid of wee Ranna the manager you couldne huv met a nicer wee guy tut tut. However they have new curry chef so now you can taste the difference between the buffet curries : )The decor lets it down looks like Stevie Wonder painted the doors in the toilet.Overall I would say still a work in progress but better than it used to be.

India Palms – Glasgow

Had a meal there begining of the month. My son had the Scotch Egg to start, well over cooked or reheated (awful)My husband had the Moules Marinier to start which was okay. I had the roast beef dinner, one of the specials (I have done better myself and I'm no chef) I did ask for the welldone part of the roast, the meat was tough, and you really had to cut through. The yorkies certainly were not freshly made, must have been reheated or in the micro. The other mains were Monkfish Scampi (which was rather dry and the chips over cooked) and the Buffalo Chicken, (over cooked chips also)The three desserts were okay.At the end of the main course the waitress asked how our meal was. I told her I was disappointed with the beef and yorkies, on her return (after a word with the chef) she said the beef was tough because I had asked for the well done part. SO IT WAS MY FAULT! Really. Our bill for food £67.19. Which I don't grudge, if I can walk out and say, well that was worth every penny.Sorry Mains we will vote with our feet and won't be back.
