Tigerspice

Very unusual place - an underground bar in a converted wine cellar, which opens up into a very nice, modern restaurant. (Located just off Princess St, by House of Frazer) Perfect for an after-work drink with friends or book a table to eat and drink in very relaxed surroundings (big bonus for me was that they show football on TV screens but without sound - my partner could keep an eye on the score without it ruining the conversation). Food is good and local (oysters, amazing-looking fishcakes, seafood platters etc) and the wine list is fabulous but not over-priced (between £16 - £30 per bottle and the higher priced bottles are really good wines). It's not fine dining but the location, atmosphere and good food make it a really relaxed, fun night out.

Whighams Wine Cellars – Edinburgh

Outstandingly good sashimi (the salmon was the best I have ever tasted!) and the beef sashimi was unusual and very pleasant. Portions not huge, so the cost quickly adds up if you adore sushi and sashimi. Didn't try the noodle dishes (but they looked great) and the prawn tempura was very good. It's a tiny place (no more than 8 tables or so), so strongly recommend booking in advance. Will go back every time I'm in Edinburgh.

A lovely little place hidden underneath and right from the Ping-On (also v.Good). The atmosphere is friendly and cosy with a pleasant Mexican/Spanish ambiance. The food is simple, tasty and well prepared. The Margaritas are pleasantly mild and the wines (mainly Spanish) are moderately priced. A restaurant I will definitely go back to.

I visited many restaurants in and around the Glasgow area for most of my 42 years, and none can match the quality of food in this place. Not only is the food good but there is plenty of it unlike the more "Trendy" places and to top it all the price is excellent two course meal sitting for two £21 and if you take it away chop a fiver off that. This palace is a must for curry lovers so nip up Victoria road and get yer belly full

If you have never visited the Darbar than you have never lived - this is the best Indian restaurant in the West of Scotland. The staff are always very helpful and happy - wish some of the other restaurants in Glasgow would take a leaf from their book... Keep up the good work. Fantastic.... xx

Delhi Darbar – Glasgow

Seems slightly more plump (seating wise to the original branch in west end / Patrick. Dined Feb 07. Fairly busy evening, reasonable attention from staff. Scallops good, halibut slightly less fresh and the risotto a bit flavourless and a tad too firm to the bite. Trio of brulee superb. Spent as fair bit of money yet Maitre D' couldn? muster up a wee farewell thanks for the custom etc!!
