French onion soup x 2, salmon gnocchi, seafood moneybags, all delicious. Service from the young team who lacked training and confidence was terrible, appeared to be no leadership, management really need to up their game, respect their staff and give them the training required to be confident in their role. 10% service charge for poor service unacceptable, customers should be given the choice to tip if appropriate.

Visited on 14 August. Overall we were very disappointed. The fish cakes were virtually all mashed potato and the fish could not be tasted. Seafood money bag didn't contain a single scallop whilst there was white fish which may have been haddock but there was certainly no smoked haddock in the dish. The thermidor sauce was thin and and tasteless, mustard cheese and brandy could not be tasted also there didn't appear to be any shallots in it. We had booked on the strength of the summer menu on the web site but the menu we were given was not the same menu. We visit Skipton regularly and certain will not be going back to the bistro. On the day we were not the only customers who were dis appointed.

Wow! A hidden gem. From the exterior to the interior, inviting & tasteful, a warm welcome from start to finish from Lesley, Ben & the team. Thank you. The ambience is relaxing, friendly with a sense of history & community. The aesthetics of the menu drew you into what was a extensive menu with a surprise of plentiful vegetarian options I can't wait to explore further. We highly recommend & hope to return soon.

We used the Bistro for a work meal and had a great experience. The service was prompt, the food was delicious, and everything arrived on time. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend it as a place to eat in Skipton.

Had a lovely meal (minus the parfait) . Staff lovely and if you like red wine, have the Shiraz!!

On Thursday 23 July I hosted a birthday meal for 6 people at Bistro des Amis. We enjoyed our meals, despite the poor availability of beers. We paid our bill without query. However, we were left with a 'sour taste' as we discovered from other diners outside the restaurant that staff had failed to automatically deduct the Thursday evening offer - buy one main and second half price -and they had had to ask for this. We missed out on this discount. Diners beware and check your bill carefully.

Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet at time of visit. Our pasta dishes were both excellent. We have visited in the past when staying in Skipton and sure we will return again.

Love this place usually and went to spend vouchers we’d been given for our anniversary. Service was shocking from the moment we arrived. Waited ages to be asked about a drink then wine plonked on the table (no water offered) Table was not set & we waited half an hour to order starters, all the while we could see tables left completely unattended or in disarray after people had left among us. Staff were stressed from a previous guest and had said meals had been ‘mixed up’ but from our previous experiences and what we could hear in the kitchen, there was something seriously amiss. Usually the manager / owner is around but there wasn’t any sign of him and the staff were visably stressed. We love the food here usually but maybe 8pm Sat is not the time to come as there was inattentive service. Ambient music abruptly stopped, tables completely left downstairs and not what we had experienced in the past. The mains were steak which we’d asked for rare and medium which came with rushed presentation and ‘rare’ definitely not rare. If this restaurant is to keep being open in Skipton, please have some sort of management all of the time, not teenagers running the place which they obviously weren’t able to do (through no fault of their own). I’ve recommended this place to so many people in the past but never again - terrible experience.

My Dad and I travel to Skipton to have lunch here several times a year and they never let us down. Generous portions, very good wine list and always friendly service. Thanks to Taylor on this occasion, who bravely endured my Dad's terrible jokes - see you all in the autumn!

Had queen scallops started sadly this dish was overcooked followed by seafood parcels they had very little seafood in the parcel and the meal was tepid at best. I am afraid I was disappointed and doubt that I will return

The young staff were very friendly and attentive. We sat upstairs and there was a great ambience about the restaurant. The choice of menu was excellent as were our meals. We've never eaten there before but we definitely will return. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Absolutely amazing food, good sized portions and all at very reasonable prices! The steak was exceptional - especially with the hand cut chips.
