Boars Head – SkiptonBooked a table for two at 7:30 on the day we arrived in Long Preston as we were traveling from Somerset. Arrived 10 minutes late but were told it was not a problem as the pub was far from busy. Got our drinks and were shown to a table were we waited for 20 minutes and finally had to ask for a menu. After another 30 minutes we asked to order and were told that the chef had instructed the staff not to take any more orders until the previous orders had all been done. We paid for our drinks and walked out and cancelled a booking we had made for a later date. They are having staffing problems so if there are more than six tables already taken than you are in for a very long wait.
Boars Head – SkiptonWe had a lovely time at The Boars Head pub/hotel. The food and room was amazing and had a lovely, friendly and cosy atmosphere. Couldn’t wait to get back from our 3 Peak walk for a nice hot bubble bath and cold Pint :). Would highly recommend.
Boars Head – SkiptonWe had a lovely time at the Boar's head! Food was okay and they have a lovely selection of draught beers to choose from! Staff was super nice and the atmosphere was lovely.
Boars Head – SkiptonWe are big fans of steak night and regulars! Lovely hotel
Baby Swan Restaurant at the Rendezvous Hotel – Skiptoncalled in to have a look around at the crafty stuff and noticed the cakes were gluten free - ALL of them! usually, there is only one choice of GF cake, so this was quite something. took 2 home for coeliac son who was made up - said they were delicious . really think you should advertise outside that you serve GF cakes as most places don't do them. sue
Just…By The Bridge x – SkiptonWe went to skipton for the first time to experience a historical Yorkshire town and wanted to have a nice coffee and cake!! We saw your quirky outside area, which looked exciting and thought we would give your shop a try.We entered your shop and requested our order but your response was very rude and you refused to serve us due to only ordering two drinks and saying that 5 people only having two drinks was bad and rudely refused to serve us and said that we should go somewhere else. This wasn’t the welcome we where expecting to this lovely scenic town.We went to another cafe which far nicer than your experience that you gave us and will never return to your cafe again :)
Just…By The Bridge x – SkiptonMy sister and I called in today for a cuppa and cake. We have been to JUST before and really like all of the quirky items for sale. We have bought a few items too , for both home and garden. When we arrived we both wanted a toilet break before we settled down for tea and cake. I asked for directions. The proprietor? was really rude and asked if we would be staying for a drink and could we order, which we did (retrospectively I am really annoyed at myself for doing so, we should have walked out then - it was not just what she said but her body language) . Whilst she was preparing the drinks I said that of course we would not have just have expected to use the toilets. She said, "hmm well I've heard that before". Perhaps the proprietor has had some bad experiences in the past but her attitude and delivery left a lot to be desired. Also, there was a young trainee working with her and, for the short time we were there, we could hear her criticize his every move. We won't be back again! Shame - we had thought it was a good find and had recommended it to friends and family but will now make sure they know of our latest experience.
Just…By The Bridge x – SkiptonThis used to be part of Ribble Valley Inns and is now a Brunning & Price pub. We dined here on the last day before it shut for a 4-week renovation so it will be interesting to see the new look. It’s a great place to stop off if you’re speeding down the A59 and we had a lovely late Sunday lunch here with ‘proper’ pub grub – fish & chips for my wife and cheese and onion pie for me. A good wine list too.
The Bull – SkiptonLove this shop! Went in for a coffee and cake with my friend and bought a load of unusual things, spent a fortune the both of us lol my friend bought a flamingo, so glad it came apart to transport lol wish i could order things online!
Just…By The Bridge x – SkiptonExcellent little quirky café/shop in Skipton. I has something I have never had before a dish of Nigerian Jollof rice. basically rice cooked in a load of vegetables ad herbs, filling and full of flavour! Had a gorgeous Bakewell cake to follow! Would recommend.
Just…By The Bridge x – SkiptonFantastic old Inn on the A59 outside Skipton. Full of character, good beer and food. And on cold winter days their HUGE wood burners are awesome!
Cross Keys Inn – SkiptonBeen here a few times the food is basic but good just don't expect a pudding after the main meal, we have now left twice without getting served with the sweet menu, they just simply forget.
Boars Head – SkiptonWonderful lunch yesterday at the Angel at Hetton. Thoroughly recommend it.
Angel at Hetton – SkiptonHi me and my husband had a wonderful meal here at easter we had Been on a day out. And on the drive home we were getting hungry so my husband spotted your place so in we came. We had never been before and we were welcomed like regulars. The staff were great and the food was to die for. They even gave us a glass when we asked if we could buy it they gave it us free. We will definitely be visting again when in the area. Thanks again for a lovely meal and at the right price to. All the best Karen & Doug
Boars Head – SkiptonOur family stayed at The Devonshire Arms on Friday for my mothers 75th birthday celebrations. We had a wonderful day and night. By far the best part of our stay was the food at The Burlington Restaurant, which was top notch. They have 4 Rosettes and I would imagine a Michelin star is on its way. From the amuse bouche to the complimentary chocolates, everything was perfect. I was particularly impressed with my duck liver starter and 55 day aged beef for main. The presentation was excellent, however more importantly the food was extremely tasty and satisfied my hunger. Have eaten in any fine dining restaurants I have become a bit jaded with 'molecular gastronomy' and I much prefer this style of fine dining cuisine. The wine waiter did a great job too, recommending a replacement for our corked wine. All the waiting staff were professional and friendly. Well done to the chef.
Burlington Restaurant – SkiptonBAD, BAD, BAD THEN EVEN WORSE.
Boars Head – SkiptonWent to the boars head today with one of my sisters and brother in law for lunch, we were visiting him to discuss the funeral arrangements for my other sister who he had been married to for 45 years. What a disaster! We didn't want to make a fuss for his sake so after my sister asked for a clean knife I didn't complain about my food being served on a chipped plate or the chips being hard or the latte being luke warm, my brother in law didn't want to complain about his cauliflower being too cold to eat either. But....when the last mouthful of my hot chocolate fudge cake was like eating a toffee crisp due to it being over microwaved I felt I just had to tell the barman-cum-waiter about my pudding when he asked if everything was ok. He then proceeded to collect the plates and shouted "unbelievable " when he reached the bar. I went to the bar and paid the bill telling him I didn't appreciate his comment, his reply was "and I didn't appreciate you three sitting in the corner creating either". Needless to say I will never go back there again. I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner before.
