Had a very good Sunday Roast which was well prepaired and presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. There was also live music from around 5pm.

Fantastic meal, had some family over from up north mentioned how kind and polite the staff were. Food was great and we loved the atmosphere. Definitely having more options for dessert would be great but overall a great lunch

We visit the Platform Tavern and enjoy their food. Sunday was a family visit for 6 of us including 2 vegans. We all enjoyed the food and have always enjoyed the ambience of the Platform Tavern. Food is very tasty and good portions. Service is friendly. We shall continue to visit the Platform Tavern for meals out and sometimes to enjoy the live music on offer.

Sunday lunch for Father’s Day, couldn’t fault it, lovely helpful staff too.

Lovely Sunday lunch for Father’s Day. Food, value and service were brilliant. A little disappointed with our table. 5 of us dining and we seated on to a table made for 4 to eat. It did seem a little crammed. That is the only criticism. Everything else great.

We had a lovely lunch on a Sunday at Max's, relaxed but attentive service, evocative decor, good atmosphere and exquisite food. Heartily recommended, especially for fitting around a performance at the Mayflower as we did.

5 of us booked in for lunch on this occasion; we're a reasonably regular group. As expected the food and the beer were in good nick. The 'pie of the day' was minced lamb , generous portions.

Max… the wine tasting event was exceptional. Great food, the ravioli was outstanding, well done Gennaro. The wine complemented each course very well. And, what great service your staff were faultless. Looking forward to the next one. Grazie Mille Max and the team.

Great food and atmosphere one of the most interesting pubs in Southampton which also has great live bands on a regular basis some afternoons and evenings.

Great meal before a show. Nothing was too much trouble with changes made to two pasta dishes which came out perfect. Wine and deserts were also great.

We have followed Max from Oxford Street, as we really like the good food and the attention we always receive from all the staff. Nothing is ever to much trouble with Max always catering for our needs Recommended

We really enjoyed our meal ,sharing a starter of Tuna Carpaccio which was delicious .I had the half Lobster Fettuciniwith white wine chilli and cherry tomato sauce which was amazing .My wife had the squid ink pasta with prawns ,calamari, clams,mussels also delicious . I finished with the Pistacio ice cream profiteroles and fresh strawberries and a double Expresso.The wine we had with our meal was a Fiano recornded by Max,a great choice .Many thanks to Max and his chef a lovely evening,

We booked Max's for 6pm to have the Theatre Menu before an evening performance at the Mayflower at 7.30pm. We decided to have a main course and a desert. Unfortunately the main course took 50 minutes to arrive which meant we did not have enough time to have a desert. From 20 minutes after we had ordered we were continually told the meal would be with us in a few minutes. Although the food was good when it arrived and the staff were apologetic it was not the relaxing start to the evening we had hoped for.

Visited yesterday prior to matinee at Mayflower Theatre. This was our 3rd visit to Max's, and our waiter welcomed us back, we were impressed that he remembered us! Food was delicious as usual, and the waiter was prompt with our food and beverages. We will be back soon Thank you
