I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. The care and detail taken by the staff is exceptional, only negative is the food arrives very quickly, you have only just finished your starter and your main course is there! Otherwise faultless

Appaling.... One of the worst meals I have ever been ripped off for... The "chef" wants to get back to cooking school...if he ever went in the first place... Overpriced garbage.. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK !!!!

I booked a table this evening for four people. It was our wedding anniversary so we was looking forward to a great evening. It never happened. After waiting over 40, yes 40 minutes I asked a young gentleman ( I guess he was a waiter with the waistcoat ) how long the table would be we received no answer. After 50 minutes we gave up and complained to the manager ( perhaps the owner ) his attitude was not the best and gave me several excuses. After a little chat he decided to half the drinks bill, but unfortunately the damage had been done. I left the place very unhappy and I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMEND THAT PEOPLE BOYCOT THE PLACE UNTILL THE MANAGEMENT get their act together. I have also sent a copy of this comment to the "good food guide" as I know this complaint will not be published. I never even got an apology for the delay.

The food is always excellent with warm friendly service, i go as much as possible

I have had the pleasure of Dining at the Palace (and formerly the Shapla) for too many years to mention. Steve and the guys prepare excellent fresh food that I haven't found better anywhere else. The Rangila and the Stuffed Mushrooms are excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. I now live in Manchester and dont get over to St helens much, but when i do i always dine at the Palace. Top food , top service , top people.

I TOOK MY FAMILY THERE ON SUNDAY FOR MY HUSBANDS 50TH BIRTHDAY. BECAUSE I HEARD IT WAS GOOD,IT WAS A DISGRACE THE POTATOES ON THREE OF OUR DINNERS WERE BURNT AND ROCK HARD.NO-ONE ASKED HOWS YOUR FOOD AT ANY TIME.AND THEY TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS BEFORE YOU HAVE EATEN.THAT SAYS ENOUGH I THINK.AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THEY CANT WAIT TO GET YOU IN GET YOUR MONEY AND GET YOU OUT I WONT BE RETURNING AGAIN .

Chipmunks is just how a chip shop should be. You have to queue but it's worth it, i'm addicted to their (not overly) battered fish chips & peas. If you can't wait until you get home to eat they've a seating area.

Went here 2 months ago, the service was very very slow, the meal was lukewarm, I asked for roasted potatoes and got chips, so the meal had to be sent back. There were no compromises to cater for my grandson, what it said on the menu he had to have. The price at the end was very expensive for what I would call a one star cafe.

Would not recommend. Any place that has egg mayonnaise on the menu and serves your steak with tinned peas and carrots should be avoided. The decor is so dated its like a labour club inside. There are many better places to eat in St Helens. I think this place has had its day.

The Colliers Arms is a fantastic little pub just outside of St Helens. The food at the Colliers is excellent. The menu is extensive and the special board has something different everytime you visit from succulent steaks to swordfish there really is something for everyone. The atmosphere is casual and i would rate the food as being good honest, well cooked British food which would give any top restaurant a run for its money at a fraction of the price. Thoroughly recommended.

We went to this place with hesitance when we walked in it was like walking into a old persons home but because of the reviews on here we gave it a go , what a mistake that was , the food was glorified pub grub at best the chips where from the freezer as well as the roast potatoes , the rib eye steak was tasteless and the carrots and peas where not very nice , the bread rolls where the cheapest you can buy like co op buns , and after several hours of leaving the place we both felt very sick ,indeed

It is unusual to find such quality of cuisine these days let alone at the prices Colours charge. The staff are attentive and keen to please. Coupled with an extensive wine list at sensible money this place really does take some beating.

Great meal and such great value. The food was actually a lot better than some of the more expensive restaurants I have dined in, I will certainly be going again, its fantastic value for money and the atmosphere was great! The staff were very friendly, they treated me like a V.I.P. I would definitely recommend you visit, you wont be disappointed!

We have been dining here for over 20 years and the food has always been good. Yes the decor is a little dated, and the menu is homely rather than adventurous, but if you want very good food at reasonable prices this is the place to eat.

I went to La Case Vieja last week for the first time in over 4 months the food was great the boss is still working in the kitchen so if the food is not up to par you can inform him I have never had to send a meal back keep up the good work and thank you for bringing a small part of Spain to St. Helens

I visited the hong sing with friends and i thought the staff were very friendly and the service was great. I thought the prices where really good for what you get. the food was lovely infact i enjoyed it that much i have arranged to return in 3 days for a family meal. class service great food what more could you ask for and no im not being paid for this rating.

We visited this pub on Saturday for my Father's 60th and had possibly the greatest meal that I have ever had in any restaurant, their chicken stuhhed with salmon simply has to be experienced, the atmosphere in the pub, although very busy was very relaxed and we stayed for the entire evening sampling a number of different wines and finished off the meal with a delicious white chocolate tart. I must also add that all the staff worked their socks off to make our visit something special and were very attentive to our needs, especially our server who was named Paul. He made us feel very comfortable and we wanted for nothing throughout our visit...very well done everyone!! We will be back very soon and so will our family!

I have dined at Colours Restaurant now for numerous years, and can honestly say hand on heart that this restaurant is so good, it’s almost unbelievable. The service is second to none and all staff are very polite and are very attentive to your needs, and treat you like a V.I.P The food is also fantastic and furthermore the menu changes every two weeks, so there is always a new exciting dish to choose from. I would recommend this restaurant to everybody; families, couples, parties etc. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
