Lunch with my Mum Warm reception from staff. Clean restaurant and tables attentive staff. Steak pie was delicious well presented good portions. The beef tenderly cooked. Comes with green beans broccoli and roast potato’s. Proper Scottish steak pie. Proper old school hospitality and restaurant. Just Great location in Stirling. Enjoyed so much thank you.

Loved the food and generous portions too. High tea is a fantastic Scottish tradition that I will be taking advantage of more frequently. We had a great time at The Golden Lion!

Table for two for dinner - good service, good food and wine. Restaurant nicely decorated for Christmas, good atmosphere. Very enjoyable evening.

Booked online in the afternoon for a 6pm meal for 4 of us. Booking system can't be great as the people handling the actual service didn't have a note of our booking. Thankfully they had space for us. Meal and service was great, thoroughly recommend the Balmoral Chicken, and the Steak Pie. Lovely place, and the waiting staff checked in on us at various points to make sure everything was OK, and to offer drinks etc.

I booked a table for 3 for 12noon on 9/11/24. I arrived early and was met with a lovely lady who welcomed me and showed me to the table. That was such a nice start to our lunch. Everyone was so helpful and courteous. The food was delicious and I liked that someone came over to ask how the meal was as we were eating. I had steak pie (something I don't eat normally so it was a treat) . It was really tasty. My friends had fish and chips and enjoyed them although one passed comment that the batter wasn't as crisp as she would have liked. However, she ate every bit of it. Thank you to all the staff who served us and cooked the food. It was just a lovely experience.

Had lunch with friends who had never been to Golden Lion before. I have been many times and was delighted that they thought everything was great. Loved their food, the service and the ambience. They also commented on the cosy character of the hotel. I'm sure they will return...as I definitely will.

Lunch with friends. Not a special occasion but always a treat at Cronies! We opted for the high tea, Willie having quite the sweet tooth. He went for the steak pie with saute potatoes and pronounced it grand, Julia was guided to the smoked cheese macaroni and though not usually a big pasta fan was very impressed, (me too, I had it last time). Myself chose the battered haddock and chunky chips and both were excellent. Your staff are so cheerful (dare I say chirpy?) and welcoming, they nip in and out and are never intrusive. The restaurant has warmth and an old world charm so rare nowadays, and harks back to an age of civility and service that is quite evocative. Don't change a thing!

What a fantastic experience in the Cronies restaurant. The night started with drinks in the bar and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were seated at our table that the staff had decorated for a birthday celebration, it was lovely. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and the food was lovely, tasted great and beautifully presented. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the restaurant for a fantastic meal and will certainly return.

We had a wonderful meal with friends. The food was amazing with lots to choose from. The haggis Bon bons are to die for. Can’t recommend it enough. Staff and service were great.

Had a meal on Friday and it was that good we decided to eat here again on Saturday night .we weren’t disappointed food excellent again , service brilliant staff so friendly . We will stay in hotel again . Loved our weekend

We very much enjoyed our lunch (first return visit since before lockdown). The food was cooked and presented to a high standard, portion sizes not too big for senior citizens - something we appreciated as we don't like wasting food! Staff very attentive, friendly, helpful and professional. I'm already looking forward to our next visit !
