Tea in Cronies at The Golden Lion Hotel; one of the last remaining civilised activities in Stirling and the greater area. Lovely traditional interiors, calm and placid atmosphere, wonderful high tea (personal choice) options and staff who are a credit to whomever recruited and trained them in the industry. Hospitality indeed! We booked online as it was a busy Friday evening. I opted for the Mac & smoked cheese, perfection. My friend went for the steak pie, it was the quietest he'd been all day, result! Traditionmal high-tea scones with jam and cream followed by wee petit four, sadly a step too far for us both, due to the Mac and Pie before. Must remember next time.

Delicious food and great price, good service too!

Good choice that I booked as restaurant was busy. Food was excellent I had the steak pie. My father had the chicken breast and cheesecake for dessert which he enjoyed. Over the course we had 5 different servers, all pleasant but when we asked for bill the server forgot and continued other tasks until we had to remind him. It would have been nice to have one server to provide a more personal touch.

6 of us came for lunch on Friday before travelling to Aberdeen for a wedding, absolutely delicious food and the staff could not do enough for us, lovely atmosphere too

Had lovely meal with friends lovely surroundings. The waiting staff needing a bit more training in my opinion. The wine bucket was literally dumped on the table with the glasses inside never experienced this in my life. Felt we were being ignored when wanting anything. Had to ask several times for water as I drink a lot when we asked for more this wasn’t brought to us. They are just mainly school kids serving so as I said maybe a bit more training. I would return as lovely place and did enjoy the food.

Party of 8 high tea. Excellent quality mains… served nice and hot. Very good service. Scones 10/10, cakes 9/10 but tray bakes 5/10. Presentation lovely

Had an enjoyable lunch here on Saturday. Good meal as usual. Friendly helpful staff. One person in party asked for rose blush glass of wine, but was informed didn’t have any. Later on looking at the wine list , you could buy bottle of this, Why can’t buy by glass now as previously been able to? Vegetarian gluten-free could do with another option as only macaroni. Good selection firWould recommend and will be back.

Hi. We had a lovely dinner at 1730 29 Jun 24. It was originally booked for 1700 but the staff kindly changed the time as we were running late. The meal was lovely and the staff were fantastic. We have a meal in the hotel about once a month. We wouldn't go back if we didn't enjoy it. It's a really great place to relax and enjoy a quiet evening in lovely surroundings. We will continue to eat out at the hotel and I recommend it to everyone.

The ambience and meal were just perfect.

I live about a 5 minute walk from The Golden Lion.It has become my favourite " go to " restaurant when I have friends/family to treat.The appearance from the outside of the hotel sets the scene. The building has existed for many,many years and has a very atmospheric feel to it.... both from the outside and inside.The dining room is impressive both in appearance and decor.all of the foregoing would be meaningless if it was not for the quality of both the staff,and most importantly the quality of the food.the steak Pie is awesome and try as hard as I can I really have to struggle to miss it out.Same can be said for the chicken dish with pepper sauce.Both the starters and Sweet menu is equally impressive!! The quality of the food is very much complimented by the quality of the staff.Although almost always busy rushing about doing their job,they always have time for a cheery word and a bit of banter which rounds off the eating experience and makes you feel good both in the stomach a d mind ensuring you always leave with with a smile on your face and a feeling of contentment in your head.Already looking forward to my next visit!!
