Village Inn, The – Swanseaan extremely well furnished and grand place to enjoy a beautiful meal at a very reasonable price
Penycae Inn – SwanseaI love going to chiquito! The music and atmosphere is lovely and the staff are very friendly. The food is delicious, although the amount they give seems to have gone down : ( This is the only bad point though. I only get filled up if I have all 3 courses. Go on a dinner time during weekdays - free refills and the cheaper menu!! Otherwise it gets expensive.
Chiquito – SwanseaI have eaten here a number of times and the food is excellent. Home cooked, very reasonable price and delightful friendly and family service. The restaurant decor has bee improved over the past two years. The landlord of the pub keeps a good pint. All to be recommended.
Ship and Castle, The – SwanseaThe New Tredeger Arms is a lovely place to eat out and is a nice family pub. The food is great and the staff is very kind.
New Tredegar Arms, The – SwanseaI recommend the outstanding sunday lunch in this quaint, friendly pub, which has been recently refurbished.
Crofty Inn – SwanseaRecently under new management, this great little gem on Gower serves fantastic, innovative food, drawing on fresh local ingredients.
Britannia Inn – SwanseaA fantastic menu, which draws on the abundance of the very best local ingredients... All dishes are cooked to perfection with stunning presentation and the care and attention that only a truly gifted chef can bring. I would highly recommend the lamb and their hand dived scallops. The desserts are sublime and the wine list outstanding and well conceived. I think the price of a meal here reflects the quality of ingredients and the skill of the chef, you certainly get what you pay for.

Welcome to Town – SwanseaA fixed cost (£12.80 April 2007) eat as much as you like menu which offers a great variety of quality Thai style food served by very friendly and attentive staff. Drinks and dessert are extra but the value for money element of the main courses still makes this a very good evening out for about £20 per person including drinks and dessert. Well worth a visit (phone and book at weekends)
Thai Pheonix Oriental – SwanseaUnder new management (Chris & Emily are excellent hosts).the range of real ales and standard beers and lagers is well worth a try. Food is always well presented and the portions are for people with big appetites(the greyhound chicken dish and house curries are well recommended and the chef's lasagne is outstanding). Sunday lunches are excellent with a choice of three meats every weekend(you can even ask for a slice of each !)Accompanied by an excellent choice of fresh vegetables. In the winter the coal/log fires are well welcomed on a cold damp day! There is an upstairs function room which will cater for parties of up to 25 people and a larger downstairs function room with seating for about 60-70 people.
Greyhound Inn, The – Swanseawell worth going there very friendly staff always pleased to help food was fab definitely recommend going really good prices went on Sunday for 3 course £5.50 starter and main dish and sundrie.
Curry Night – SwanseaWhen arriving at The Reverend James the place was as if it was in the country. its a small pub but with a lot to offer when myself and partner walked in we were greeted by a young bar man who recommended the bread of heaven bitter and for my lovely wife a glass of house wine. he showed us to the table and gave us time to look over the menu there specials board was a variety of classic and new dishes but the thing that caught my eye was the wild mushroom and goats cheese starter and my wife had a prawn and crayfish cocktail. they were served within minutes and was full of flavour not disappointing at all. then for main course I had no trouble ordering a full rack of pendering whisky ribs with a homemade bbq sauce which was divine a deep full flavoured sauce and my partner had the Caerphilly and leek stuffed chicken with a light red wine sauce and tasty peppercorn mash. after all that being impressed with the first two courses how could we resist a third we both decided to try the homemade apple and pear oat crumble with a vanilla ice cream which did not disappoint either. the waiter then brought us two coffees which completed our meal. i would say the atmosphere in the establishment was calm and inviting and would soon be paying them a visit back .
Reverend James, The – SwanseaI spent a very enjoyable evening here. My work colleagues were impressed with the food and service. Linda the owner is very funny and looks after her customers very well.
Fountain Inn, The – SwanseaMe and my friends where very pleased with this place. We picked a Wednesday to go which was good as it was quiet but not too quiet! The menu has a good range of foods on it and the service was outstanding! the waitress who served us was very polite and always attentive! you will get outstanding service in this place! always quick and your not rushed at the end of the night. The food was the nicest food ive ever tasted in Swansea! it was OUTSTANDING! I opted for the fillet royale which was one chefs signature dishes! my friends had the chicken in cheese and ham sauce, lamb cutlets, gammon, welsh black sirloin and the duck! everything was excellently presented and tasted great. everyone was very pleased! Only two of us had desserts (being two full from the large portions you get). We both had homemade ones! One was bread and butter pudding with a twist! i think it was called lovers pudding. Again it was OUTSTANDING. Very well presented and tasted twice as nice! My friend had the chocolate and orange pie! Again presented lovely and i was told it was beautiful. we then had coffee to finish which was just as nice as the rest. All in all a great night. WE WILL BE BACK!
Buck Inn, The – Swanseaoutstanding pub
Smiths Arms – SwanseaThe Garuda is the hidden gem in Swansea and the only authentic Indonesian restaurant in Wales. It has a real family atmosphere - more like eating in a friend's house than at a restaurant. In addition, it has a BYO policy (no corkage charges) which means you can bring your favourite wine which certainly reduces the final cost of a meal. But people come here above all else for the food. It cannot be described in words - it really has to be tasted. When we were there I had the tastiest chicken satay I have ever eaten, followed by a really spicy beef rendang and special noodles. My partner had chicken soup as a starter followed by squid in a yellow bean sauce and gado-gado (mixed vegetables with s[icy peanut sauce). And to finish things off - really strong Indonesian coffee. The bill? £54.25. Afterwards we had the added pleasure of meeting the chef and owner - Ani - who is really charming and comes from Sumatra. She explained that everything is freshly cooked and that she grounds all her own spices, etc. to make her really delicious sauces. I can't recommend it highly enough. My only worry is that it will become too popular which means we will probably have to book weeks in advance to get a table there.
Garuda – SwanseaThis is a fantastic restaurant if you like stunning indonesian/thai style food. Superb vegetarian options as well as meat and fish. Lovely casual atmosphere, excellent, friendly service, nothing is to much trouble. B.Y.O wine, you should go there and see for yourself!
