Lovely venue. Staff are welcoming and friendly , yet efficient. Food was very good and in my humble opinion value for money. Cocktails are amazing too. Won't leave it as long before we go back this time.

We treated our staff to a meal out here and the whole experience was great. From the initial online booking, to needing to add another person to our booking. The table and bar service was great, and the menu had a wide selection which suited us all, and a good selection of draft lagers. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and we will most certainly be back again.

The welcome from the girl behind the bar was warm & friendly and she did a good job waitresses along with another through the meal. My husband enjoyed his goat's cheese starter, but the mains were very disappointing. I chose chicken stroganoff which came superheated, obviously just out of the microwave. The sauce reminded me of a packet mix from years gone by..very poor I'm afraid. My husband had beef bourginon. Although the beef was tender and the beans delicious, the slab of tesco part-baked bread stuck across the top of the dish did nothing but to put him right off. The frayed edge down the side of the desert menu where it had been ripped out of a pad was the final straw. Nice ambience but very poor presentation.

We were fortunate to get a table, on spec. What a beautiful place. The decor is amazing, the ambience welcoming and food was excellent. Great value for money too considering the whole experience. Will definitely be back....

I had duck which was spot on. One guest had liver which she enjoyed. The other had steak (note only rump option) which was ‘OK’ We opted for two deserts, unfortunately both ‘sticky toffee pudding’, which was Luke warm and had the consistency of a brick with minimal ‘toffee’ on top. We made our feelings known but don’t think it was fed back.

We visited the pub prior to a planned visit to the shire horse centre next door. We have been to the Alvanley Arms before and enjoyed it so we booked it again. It is such a nice place. The location is great, the interior of the pub is very cosy, the food is very nice and the staff are helpful and friendly. It is the third time we have been to the Alvanley Arms and the shire horse centre this yeat and wish we could go every week.

This was our second visit. We stopped off for a meal on a long drive home. The pub is a lovely environment and very clean, and the service is friendly. Unfortunately the pork belly was dry, and the dish overall was too heavy. I did want a pie but there was no alternative to steak and ale. We were considering a dessert, but waited 25 minutes after finishing our meal with the table not yet cleared before deciding to pay at the bar and leave as there was no server attending us.

We had a Sunday early evening meal. We were impressed with the service and the quality of the food. The portions were large and we would go for the smaller plate option next time. Maybe then have room for dessert. Four of us had the mixed roast diner and one had the vegetarian option. We chose the Alvanley Arms because of the wide selection of vegetarian dishes available. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Staff were very helpful. My granddaughter 's meal wasn't what I ordered for her which was roasted chicken breast, mash and peas., Instead chicken was chargrilled, a mixture of veg and mash, which was the only thing she ate.

This was my first visit for several years and I was pleased to see the restaurant was still very welcoming with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the service was very slow. No one came to take our order so we flagged someone down. We then waited 30 minutes for our meal. I ordered the goats cheese and onion tart which was so small it looked like a starter as it was a large square piece of puffed pastry with a small round filled centre , served with salad. Very poor indeed. I didn’t complain at the time as I’d waited so long I didn’t want to wait for anything else. We then asked to see the desert menu but it never arrived so after another 20 minutes we decided to just pay the bill on our way out. I shared my disappointment with the staff member who took our payment who apologised and advised they were short staffed. We had 2 drinks taken off the bill. Overall very disappointing

Excellent. Easy booking. Fantastic service and top food. Sunday roast is one of the best
