Sting in the Tail – UlverstonTo enjoy a fine meal cheerfully served in the spacious conservatory overlooking the broad sands of the Leven estuary is a unique experience, especially welcome after walking the one-and-a-half miles along the old canal from Ulverston.
Bay Horse – UlverstonFood really was excellent - fresh and authentic; a quality and varied menu (meaty and vegetarian options - something for everyone) - i heartily advise trying the sticky ribs with boddingtons! Cooked to perfection. As for the vodka/tequila for my Birthday, a big thanks...it capped off a perfect night with great atmosphere. The staff were really great and were happy to nip into the kitchen to raid the cinnamon and orange store - the perfect accompaniment to the wide selection of tequila! This in turn led to many 'artistic' crayoning creations on the tablecloths - a fab idea to keep kids young and old entertained! Amigos - a mexican gem. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
Amigos The Mexican – Ulverstongreat home cooked food in a friendly village atmosphere
The Ship Inn – UlverstonGood meal had by us all on the Headwetting day [large group with one 'large' member]. Beers served in 4 pint pitchers, just a shame Mike couldn't stay for the meal.....must have been the pork scratching that put him off his chillie. Staff were very accommodating even though they were very busy. Booking advisable as it is very popular choice amongst local diners. A1++
Amigos The Mexican – UlverstonWe had a lovely meal at the British Raj at the weekend, and we were very impressed. The service was friendly and efficient, and the selection of dishes is outstanding. The food was very well presented, and tasted superb. We were very impressed with the meal, and also how reasonable it all was. I wish the team every success. Mary and Pete
British Raj The – UlverstonWent in today coffee and toast. Hot milk would have been nice bread could be improved it is too light and falls apart. Come on Gillams get it together i am rooting for you. Queenie.
Gillams Tearoom – UlverstonOn my first visit to Gillams tea rooms I was in for a pleasant surprise. It is totally organic, vegetarian and fair trade. The waitress was friendly and the food was very nice. I have been on numerous occasions since and always find the food good. On a cold winters day its lovely to sit by a roaring fire eating good food.
Gillams Tearoom – UlverstonA group of 24 of us went to Amigos for our Christmas get together. From start to finish Tracey and her staff dealt with us in a really friendly and professional manner. Amigos has to be one of the areas most comfortable and relaxed eating houses. The ambience is just fantastic from the cosy but very comfortable cellar bar to the lovely rustic style dining room - everything signals to you that Tracey has done her homework well and you the customer are in for a fun night. The food is nicely presented and tastes equally as good. The portion sizes are on the generous side of things so steer clear of big lunches before you go. I'm sure that many people who have gone out as a big party have all suffered from slow service and mixed up orders. I can in all honesty say this was NOT the case at Amigos, the poor chef and his team must have been busting their guts out for us, everything we ordered came at the same time, the food was cooked to perfections and nothing was too much trouble for the waitresses. The menu is a delight to peruse and caters for all tastes, even those that don't want to be adventurous and try Mexican food. Quite a few people commented that they particularly liked the way they could specify how spicy they would like their food to be at the time of ordering. It's little touches like this that make all the difference. I suppose the acid test with any eatery is the answer to the question "would you go back?" In the case of Amigos the answer would be a resounding YES. There's a lot of restaurants in this area that could do with taking a leaf from Amigos book. When it comes down to putting the customer first and making sure that their customers are having a great time Amigos wins hands down. Anyway to summarise Excellent Food Excellent Setting Excellent Friendly Staff Oh nearly forgot..... AWESOME margaritas!!

Farmers Arms – UlverstonThe food is absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. The cafe was busy yet we didn't have to wait long to have our order taken or have our food delivered to the table. The fact that all of the food is organic, fair trade and, wherever possible, locally produced is a credit to the owners. I will definitely be visiting again.
Gillams Tearoom – UlverstonIf you are a fan of good service, a great atmosphere and excellent food then Amigos is the place for you! The friendly staff make you feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble! Everything is cooked to order so although my partner ALWAYS wants something which doesn't come as standard, the staff checked with the chef and quickly came back to us to confirm that nothing was too much trouble. The food was thoughtfully cooked and presented and you had just enough of everything. Despite eating a lot neither of us felt bloated or as though we had had a heavy / fatty meal at the end. The atmosphere on the evening was just right and we both enjoyed discovering the hidden artist in us as we utilised the complementary crayons supplied on every table for the purpose of turning the white paper tablecloth into a work of art! (the best of which were stuck on the walls!) We had a lovely evening here and the staff went out of their way to give me step by step directions and even suggest other places of interest that my partner and I could visit in the area. Can't wait to go back!!!! Thank you !!
Amigos The Mexican – UlverstonAfter a recent meal my infrequent visits will become regular visits, The new chef (who I believe only arrived in September) has transformed an acceptable dining experience in to a not to be missed pleasure. Do yourself a favour and prepare to be spoilt.
