Papa Luigis – WiganI have visited Wigan Central several times during outdoor service. On my recent visit, 13 May, the heavens opened. Fortunately for me the beer was excellent and the staff very cheerful. An excellent combination that all venues should aspire to. Looking forward to a beer indoors!

The Fox Roby Mill – WiganHad a lovely last minute lunch for two. First time visit and definitely won’t be the last. We shared a cheese platter to start which was lovely three really good cheeses with figs honey and grapes easily enough for two people. Then we both had starter sized meals the Ragu ands the chicken livers with a side a tomato garlic bread all delicious . The service was great and we look forward to eating inside next time ... the refurbishment looks fabulous and we are glad to have this on our doorstep, fingers crossed they maintain the quality and service.

Wigan Central – WiganAs with other reviews above, tremendous to have such an establishment in our local area. They have done a tremendous job with the rear garden eating area with the rustic tables and substantial and lovely wooden pods. We booked a pod and it was very comfortable and the heater unit kept us warm. Thankfully the menu is not too heavy in terms of choice and it’s clear IL Mulino want to present Italian food in a more contemporary way. We ordered a mixture of starters and mains with mixed success in the mains. The sea food risotto was lacking in fish flavour and the sea food very small and the beef cheek ragout whilst lovely in presentation just lacked seasoning making it bland in flavour. We had a lovely night and very much pleased to get out finally to a restaurant but despite other great reviews our experience was rather flat, made worse when the bill arrived. Service and staff very good. We will try again but hope it’s better than this occasion.

Handy for both stations so good to pop into before or after a train journey, and the live timetable feeds are useful. Looking forward to the return of live music.
