I had a really good experience here on a quiet Monday evening. I was welcomed by, the very friendly, Felix who proceeded to talk me through the food stations and what was available. He then showed me to my requested quiet table and took my drinks order. This was an exceptionally quiet restaurant due to to the time of year. However, the first thing I noticed was the freshness of food on offer, the good temperature at each station and how all the staff were keeping themselves busy cleaning down and restocking as needed whilst they had the time. By the time I returned to my table with my first round my drink was waiting. Felix checked in on me a few times throughout my evening without being over baring I understand people's reviews are based on their own opinions, but I do think some people need to shake their heads when dining at buffet restaurants. The food can't be stored too warm as it would continue to cook. It is impossible in busy times to keep more popular stations fully stocked without compromising the less busy ones. I certainly know I couldn't have got the same amount, and quality of food, for anywhere near what I paid for my evening plus drinks. Ultimately if you want fine dining then don't eat at buffet restaurants. For me I got far better than I expected and indeed paid for. Well done Felix and the team, you'll know my reasons, and I left extremely full and happy

Booked here online for my boyfriends birthday, I'd mentioned this in the comments when I booked. When we'd finished eating they surprised him with a slice of cake and a candle! Loved it! The selection of food was really great too, I've been to other all you can eat restaurants but this was the best selection I've seen!

Great meal which was my best friends Christmas present. I enjoyed the variety of food available and the opportunity to try new things. All I had was good (apart from the chilli mussels) and my friend loved it.

First time in Maxis food good portions ok service good only thing to moan about by the time we got to the end of our meal it was cold.Other restaurants give you a hotplate to keep food warm other than that it was a pleasant evening.

Some of the food was nice. Took ages for our food to arrive though. The salt and pepper mushrooms were disgusting, they weren't cooked properly at all. Unfortunately some staff were very rude and also had terrible body odour. I don't think I will be returning at all. Also very very expensive

We enjoyed our New Year experience at Maxis . The staff are always so pleasant , they worked hard to make us welcome , service excellent as was the food both quality and portions. My vegetarian choice was accommodated . The atmosphere was wonderful . DJ excellent . Nothing was too much trouble . A big thank you. A wonderful glass of complimentary champagne offered . A lovely gesture . Another bonus,the wonderful dancing by staff members . A good time had by all.

Amazing meal at Maxi's, York. The food was excellent - freshly prepared and full of taste. Dim sum menu is very authentic and lots of variety. Crispy belly pork was to die for! Service was superb - very attentive waiting staff, nothing was too much trouble. Will be back soon!

Had a great evening Xmas eve food was lovely all hot and a fantastic selection, the staff are so friendly and attentive looking forward to returning soon.

Good food, really hot. Selection was great, something for everybody's taste. A bit dear compared to what it used to be.

After having a great experience here in october i brought my daughter and her partner for dinner. The food was good but service unfortunately was not. I know its christmas party season but it shouldnt mean smaller tables are made to feel an inconvenience. Nor should i have to go looking for staff in order to get more drinks and dessert. Dissapointed as i really like the place l.

Once again a superb meal at Maxis. All the food was fantastic and the staff are really friendly and helpful - I have limited mobility and they go out of their way to make sure I am comfortable

Tucked away by the side of the River Ouse, this restaurant offered terrific value with a lunchtime 'eat as much as you want' deal. Although we arrived half way through the opening hours there was a good selection of all varieties of cuisine available. Chefs were checking the various serving dishes and replenishing with freshly cooked dishes.

We had lunch here 2 adults and 2 out of 3 of our children ate for free, it was good value for money and there was a good selection of food. Although the chocolate fountain doesn’t get switched on for lunch this is understandable given the price and there was a big enough selection of sweets and desserts to choose from. The food was nice quality and was better than what I expected from a buffet and the kids loved it being able to look at and choose different options. The service and staff were lovely and accommodating with the children giving them a colouring book and a lolly at the end.
