Wish I’d never booked this restaurant. If I could give a zero rating I would. Booked a table for our Silver Wedding Anniversary months in advance. Turned up on the day to find the restaurant was closed due to electrical problems. We had received a booking confirmation the day before but no notification of the closure, even though I had supplied my mobile number and email when booking. I had to actively chase up the manager to complain (even though I had sent two emails and left a verbal message message). Eventually was told we could have a free meal. Had already explained that we live several hundred miles away and this visit to York was a one off. My only regret is that I booked this restaurant in the first place when there are so many other great alternatives in York.

the food was incredible but the staff were the real highlight. they went above and beyond and were so friendly and helpful. a really really lovely evening

Ate as a family of 4 on a Friday evening. Excellent service and top quality food. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble (even accommodated our extra guest towards the end of the meal). This is the second time we have eaten here and on both occasions have found the ingredients to be of very high quality. Will be returning again to sample other dishes on the menu. Thank you.

Wonderfully food and fantastic service lovely meal with friends cannot recommend enough

I grew up in Asia and absolutely love Korean food - have never found a place in the north with such delicious and authentic dishes. The staff is wonderful too and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommend!

Food excellent and staff excellent No Korean beer …

The food was delicious and all staff made sure it was very safe regarding Covid-19. Temperature taken at the door, tables spread out and all staff wearing masks. Will be back again.

Amazing place, with fantastic food. I have been twice and will definitely come back again. The Korean BBQ is not only delicious, but it is also a nice way to get out of the routine and experience something new while dining out. Highly recommended !!!

Wonderful fresh Dim Sum and all our favourite dishes as always. Having lived in Hong Kong for many years we miss our weekly Yum Cha and thankfully Maxis never disappoints, just too far for us to make it weekly. Best Chinese Food in Yorkshire.

Back at Maxi’s for the first time since the pandemic started! It was really great to be back, great food, great service, will be back again very soon.

Wow wow wow. We visited on our first night in York, after searching online for something we'd not had before. We ordered the Korean table BBQ and were quickly greeted by Mylo the dog who was wondering around. The food arrives quickly, and as it's cool yourself it's perfect for a relaxed social night. Loved it. The server, who's name I didn't get, was great and attentive throughout. The restaurant is small and cosy, with direct view into the kitchen. The chef came out and had a talk with us and by this point Mylos owner, who I assume was also the owner of the restaurant had placed Mylo into the seat next to my partner, much to her delight. Mylo quickly fell asleep, whilst we nattered and cooked away. For dessert we had Korean shaved ice and a Korean cinnamon pancake. Amazing. We felt very much like we'd been welcomed into a family's home by the end of our night, hidden gem located off a side street and up two flights of stairs. We'll be back next time we're in York! But we'll make it a table for 3 so that Mylo can join us again!!

What a stunning location by Byland Abbey. Very atmospheric. Next time we will stay and maybe in the tents in the back. Only had morning coffee but was quite taken with the place. Lovely furniture and vibe there.

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful little town. The food was excellent in the Weather Vane. My son really enjoyed the pool and we the spa facilities. One thing that i really picked up on was the friendliness of the staff, very welcoming !

Visited on Friday lunchtime as a birthday treat and treat it was. The food was exceptional both in quality and presentation. The staff were excellent, the surroundings beautiful and the atmosphere was very nice and calm. All covid precautions in place with all staff wearing masks and thoroughly cleaning menus and tables on leaving. Will be making this a regular trip!

Great food, highly recommend the beef and also the crispy chicken, both were tastebud tantalising meals. Super friendly atmosphere and great service. Definitely would return for a wonderful evening.

Absolutely amazing food - my friends and I have been regularly ordering from Oshibi through Deliveroo over the past year and finally we were able to go to the restaurant! The staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating to our group, and we can't wait to return. The little doggy pootling about was a fantastic plus too! An absolute gem of a place.

Great food, efficient and prompt service, very reasonable prices. We are regular customers over the last 10 years and we have always thoroughly enjoyed our visits.
