We have been regular diners at '31' for a number of years and are pleased to report that following the permitted re-opening in December 2020 we continued to enjoy an excellent meal and wine this week.

Another fabulous meal at 31 Castlegate. Food was excellent and great value as was the wine. Highly recommend the black pudding scotch egg. Service was friendly and efficient - already booked again !!

After the latest lockdown we ventured into York and enjoyed yet another meal at 31 Castlegate. It was not our first visit and despite the restaurant being quiet, the food was excellent, and as the main was all cooked fresh, we enjoyed a bottle of wine and a nice starter whilst we were waiting. Nothing is too much trouble. Overall such a pleasant experience after being stuck at home for a month.

We always went to Maxis in Leeds on a regular basis and miss it so much. So now have to travel over to York, which we have done a few times now. The food and the service and the staff are all fantastic and can not fault it. It’s the best Chinese meal ever. Will definitely be going back. We were also impressed with the social distancing .

Food was great as always however service was shocking!! We came to celebrate our engagment however waited 45 minutes to get served watching 3 other tables order and start eating before we even got drinks! I had to ask for a server twice. Such a shame this has really put us off coming again.

Quality of chicken is poor again! I love Maxis, been going there for 20 years but since reopening after lockdown the quality has been questionable. I thought it was back to the usual standards but last weekend we went again and any dish with chicken is just unacceptable quality.

Perfect, again, as always! Wonderful selection, lovely ambiance and staff, divine meals, and all whilst having to cater to almost all allergies possible! ❤️

Had a lovely evening at the restaurant, waiter was really friendly and great service. Food was cooked beautifully, menu was small but would have been happy to have any of the choices on the menu... All presented nicely... Nice glass of bubbly to celebrate 15 years of the restaurant being open, highly recommend

We had a delicious birthday meal at Maxi’s on Sunday 11th October. We have been customers at Maxi’s in Leeds and now York for 30 years now, and have never been disappointed. Food and service were both great, Covid precautions all taken, can’t wait to download the new loyalty app, see you soon Maxi’s.
