Recently ate at Max's in Clifton for the first time as until a couple of weeks ago we did not know it existed... what a find the best meal we have had in a very long time. The food was superb, every course was made fresh including th desert, a very light crepe and you could tell. Lovely friendly waitress in a really romantic atmosphere, well worth every penny.

Just had one of our best meals ever, the place was really busy and the food was fantastic, such a joy to have proper freshly cooked Italian with dishes you don't see at other places, my husband had a Sicilian pepper to start and then some wonderful pasta, and I loved my squid and seabass totally fresh and totally delicious, we will def be back.

Ate at max's last week for the first time. What a wonderful place, how refreshing to find a restaurant in the city where the atmosphere is relaxed and hurried, somewhere you can take your time enjoying the fabulous food wine and company. I applaud this restaurant.

You seldom find a restaurant and its staff that actually care, it shows in the service, food etc. We have been as a couple and with friends on many occasion and consider ourselves at home from home whenever we visit.Thanks you Max, i can honestly say it.. you deserve every success!

We went to Max's for Valentine's Day in the evening (7 pm sitting). We were greeted by the host who recognised that we hadn't been before. He was very friendly, funny and charming all evening. The food was excellent. We both had a calimari starter, served in a knockout sauce! I had a roulade of Monkfish main, my wife had beef. We were served a delicious red wine called "Riva". For dessert I had crepes with ice cream, my wife had profiteroles. There was nothing to criticize about the evening, it was memorable gastronomically and romantically!

Having recently eaten in this restaurant, on a friends recommendation, I feel I should definitely pass this recommendation on. From the outset we were made to feel very welcome, as if we were regulars ( which we will be now), the food was brilliant, delicious yet not to fancy, hard to choose as everything looked lovely. Over all the food, service and ambience made for a fantastic meal out. Perfect.

I have been going To Max's regularly since the opening 2 years ago, not only for the exquisite food and atmosphere, but for Max- a super and welcoming host with excellent taste in wine. I would say this restaurant was perfect for those special occasions.. However I have popped in a few times for pasta at lunch-it is by far the best place for an Italian meal in Bristol and I have lived here 20 years!
