Set in a baroque Chester mansion house dating back to the seventeenth century, Michelin star chef Richard Philips has come to Oddfellows waving the flag for British Cuisine. “We will source the best local, seasonal produce for Oddfellows and show everybody how ‘great’ a British menu can be,” says Richard. Dining options include The Pantry, an all-day bistro with contemporary yet slightly eccentric design which is the perfect meeting place for a quick bite or a coffee and The Brasserie, where you can enjoy delectable food in an environment that exudes a relaxed sophistication and charm. Oddfellows is also one of the few venues in Chester that offers al fresco dining and drinking facilities. Within the walled garden there’s a vast array of spaces to relax away from the hubbub of the city, including heated Bedouin tents and the Miami glamour-styled area by the blue-tiled pool. Oddfellows offers a full event management service for weddings, birthday celebrations, christenings, conferences, exclusive events. And up in the eaves are four fabulous suites. The Pantry Restaurant is open Monday to Saturday right through from 10am to 9pm for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The Michelin-starred restaurant at Chester's luxurious five-star Grosvenor Hotel & Spa was formerly known as Arkle – after the Duchess of Westminster’s famous steeplechaser – but was renamed Simon Radley At The Chester Grosvenor in 2008 in honour of the Executive Chef who has headed up the kitchen team for 20 years and held a Michelin star since 1990. This is fine dining in grand style with a seasonally changing menu inspired by French haute cuisine. Choose from the a la carte or the tasting menu complemented by a thousand-bin wine list which is one of the very best in the country. The à la carte menu of often classic traditional British dishes with extravagant twists -- supported by an extensive wine list -- includes innovative 'sous vide' specialities and a six-course Gourmet Tasting Menu demonstrating the exceptional breadth and variety of its cuisine. The light and airy conservatory restaurant, with panoramic views over the Cheshire plain, seats from one person to a party of 25. Everything is prepared on-site using best quality fresh produce from local suppliers from the bread at your table to the biscuits with your morning coffee. It is, said the AA, "top notch cuisine" in which technique, flair, imagination, balance, textures and creative depth of flavour come through in every exciting dish. Awards also include two Cheshire Life 'Restaurant of the Year' awards and one for the best use of local produce. The Alderley Restaurant is also available for private dining and celebrations can be catered for in private dining rooms.
