Combe House, Devon
The restaurant at Combe House serves fine food and offers exciting wines, specially selected by passionate wine lovers.
The seasonal menus offer the best locally reared meat, game from the Combe estate and local, freshly caught fish. The passionate Master Chefs of Great Britain and their brigade have built strong relationships with some of the best West Country suppliers. Add to this seasonal vegetables and aromatic herbs, hand picked from Combe's kitchen garden which has been lovingly restored to its Victorian glory. The garden now provides 40% of the kitchens needs and is part of a sustainability policy which includes the restoration of its potting sheds and the Georgian Orangery. Recently 100 happy chickens were introduced and cider making using ancient methods is underway in the apple orchards. All these ethical changes and more have resulted in Combe attracting an Enjoy England Green Tourism Silver Award 2009.
The Restaurant's reputation for fine food and friendly, dedicated service is fast growing, making it a favourite with returning house guests, locals and diners from Exeter and Taunton who appreciate being able to escape the city and within 15-30 minutes find themselves dining out in acres of glorious countryside.
Combe's ancient underground cellars provide perfect conditions for laying down fine wines and you'll find an interesting extensive list - all realistically priced, including one of the UK's best collections of Chablis.
In winter enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapes in the cosy bar or sitting room, or relax in the Great Hall - in front of a blazing log fire.
In summer, guests can enjoy apritifs - relaxing on the croquet lawn or under the majestic 300 year old Lebanese Cedar Trees watching a spectacular sunset over the Devon countryside.

Wine List
Our wines have been chosen to reflect the mood of the season and the nature of the produce that is available at this time of year. There are rich, fruit-driven white wines with great purity of fruit to suit all palates and moods and reds that are eminently suitable with game and full-flavoured meat dishes. We have included a weighty fruitiness that is ideal for the season - rose is not just for summer!
We are immensely proud of our wines which are excellent examples of their regions and style. They are all wines that have been through a rigorous 'blind-tasting' process and have been selected according to their taste rather than on their 'name' or vintage. current winelist
