Positioned centrally in Harrogate and close to the Theatre, Sage Bistro is housed in a characterful old building and split into two dining rooms -- both of which can seat up to 20 diners -- and a bar lounge area with comfy sofas for pre- and post-dinner drinks. At lunch the restaurant is casual and relaxed, a perfect place to have a break from shopping or take a business lunch. In the evenings the ambiance becomes intimate, atmospheric and candle lit. Sage is run by chef-patron Guy and his wife Arlene who looks after the front of house -- both are passionate about food and hospitality and Guy has come from a high-end background working as Sous Chef at several accomplished restaurants including Calcot Manor in Tetbury. Driven by quality, he has built strong relations with local suppliers to source fine seasonal ingredients for his modern European menus, which are seasonal and constantly changing. But some dishes such as his signature starter of twice-cooked Langoustine and Crab soufflé are kept on the menu by popular demand. Homemade pastas and risottos are available in starter or main portions and are perfect for lunch and there is always a fresh fish special available. The meats come from celebrated Sykes House Farm and game appears on the menu when in season. Desserts are all homemade with the same attention to detail. Vegetarians and customers with special diets are welcome to make requests when booking or the Guy will accommodate where possible on the day. A well chosen wine list with Champagne and Prosecco by the glass is supplemented with a fully stocked premium bar. Open Monday 6-10pm, Tuesday-Friday 12-2pm and 6-10pm, Saturday 12-2.30pm and 6-10.30pm and Sunday 1-9pm.
