This is not a recommendation but after reading your policy and hearing you will forward good and bad reviews to the restaurant I am more than happy to provide an opinion.
I last visited Angel's Share on 31st December 2008 - yes New Years Eve. A time of celebration. Ha how ironic!
A table for around 15 people had been booked in advance and pre-ordered menu choices given. At £25 per head, the menu consisted of a cold starter, pizza and cold dessert. Hardly a 'Master Chef' menu to test anyone's culinery skills. But, it was NYE, an extremely busy time, so the decision to only offer a simple menu was perfectly understandable.
Despite the fact we pre-ordered we waited almost 2 hours - no exaggeration - for the pizza. A burnt offering with limited topping finally arrived at the table with just minutes to spare before the strike of midnight. Inedible to say the least. How can it be possible to get something as simple as a pizza so incredibly wrong?!
As compensation we were offered a discounted rate. This was accepted, but I hasten to add the cost of the menu was never in dispute. The simple fact is the food was very very poor.
Excuses can be made by the management at Angel's Share - it was NYE, the kitchen was busy etc - but it comes down to bad management of the kitchen. The standard of food was appalling, the service wasn't much better and the entire evening was a huge disappointment.
The financial impact due to the loss of custom caused by this bad experience may not be felt by Angel's Share - afterall we are only 15 or so people. However the experience has been recounted 10-fold and there will be no recommendations given.
I certainly hope the credit crunch doesn't affect Angel Share but it's with little doubt that if the standard of food doesn't dramatically improve it won't matter, people will simply stop going.

There were five of us went for a meal - we have been before so thought we would take the family this time. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We all had lots of different dishes and all were served hot and together. I love this place. We didn't finish eating until after 10.30 but the staff didn't allow people who were drinking downstairs to come to the first floor until we had finished and paid the bill. I would highly recommend this as a place to eat and socialise.

Excellent food, good value. Excellent, friendly service. We hadn't realised that the top floor was non smoking, the staff made sure that they didn't seat any smokers near us. Will be visiting again.

Excellent! I had always thought of this place as more of a bar than a restaurant. The food was fantastic and you got lots of it. The lamb Shank just fell off the bone. The service was impeccable. There was a part of seven and the waiter knew who had ordered exactly what. Would strongly recommend you go.

Just returned from a meal at Angels Share, the food was excellent, four of us dined this evening and all of the food was outstanding, the service was very professional and the prices were reasonable for the quality of service and food. I just hope that they maintain their high standards... Highly recommended!!!

Another edition to the ever growing bar culture in Chapel Allerton is The Angel? Share. This contemporary bar and restaurant offers numerous dishes that will leave you spoilt for choice with anything from Merguez sausage with Moroccon cous cous and to a simple Caeser salad or Moules Mariniére. It boasts a relaxed and welcoming environment, mainly due to the outside sun-patio, with heaters, which provide a great place to simply sit back and relax, which was definitely my highlight.
Inside, it offers a more informal dining area, with the open staircase allowing a little of the liveliness of the bar below to reach the dining area. The second floor houses a more intimate restaurant with a balcony, giving stunning views over Chapel Allerton village green. I found this floor to be more of a romantic and relaxed feel for those wanting a more intimate area to enjoy the fantastic food on offer.
However, even though the food stops at 10.30pm, the great selection of continental drinks, including a stunning list of cocktails will keep anyone drinking until the early hours. The bar staff are friendly and professional and seem to know what they are talking about (something that is rare these days). A definite must for any occasion!
