Set in 250 acres of beautiful parkland in the heart of the Wirral peninsula, the Hillbark Hotel is a luxury destination with a fascinating history. The Grade II listed building was originally built in 1891 in Birkenhead for a local soap magnate then moved brick by painstaking brick to its current site in Royden Park in 1931. There are 19 individually decorated bedrooms, many with views out over the Dee Estuary, and the public rooms contain a host of treasures, including a Jacobean fireplace from Sir Walter Raleigh's home, a pair of 13th century church screen doors, a library from a stately home in Gloucestershire and a 1795 Robert Adam fire surround in the Yellow Room restaurant. The Hillbark has two choices for diners -- fine dining in the Yellow Room and the more informal and contemporary Hillbark Grill. In the Yellow Room you can enjoy English and Continental haute cuisine in fine style with gilt armchairs, sparkling silver and crystal and starched linen tablecloths. The Hillbark Grill has a choice of steaks, chicken, fish and hand-crafted burgers, all cooked on a bespoke American chargrill. ...more information
