Simon Radley At The Chester Grosvenor
Simon Radley has been at the helm in the five-star Chester Grosvenor Hotel & Spa's kitchens for 20 years, holding a Michelin star for 18 of them. In honour of that stellar achievement, the hotel's iconic Arkle restaurant has been recently refurbished and renamed as Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor. The Grade-II listed hotel, with its distinctive black and white half-timbered facade and 80 rooms and suites, has been a feature of Chester city centre since 1865. It's part of the Duke of Westminster's estate and it was the late Duchess who owned the famous steeplechaser after which the restaurant was named.
In its new incarnation, the focus remains on classically inspired cuisine with a contemporary twist and diners have a choice between the a la carte or the tasting menu. A typical run through the a la carte might include a starter like Caramelised veal sweetbread with truffle lasagne, scented langoustine and vanilla stick followed by Picattas of Galloway beef with intense mushroom, clotted cream, artichoke and truffle and a dessert of Chilled Champagne soup with crisp vacherin and raspberry ripple. The food is complemented by one of the best wine lists in the country stretching to around a thousand bins. Simon Radley At The Chester Grosvenor is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. The hotel's other dining options are La Brasserie, for more informal dining, and The Arkle Bar & Lounge for pre-dinner drinks, morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea.
