Jade The – MoseleyA group of 12 of us visited and none of us were greatly impressed. The tagines appear to be meat ( either chicken or lamb) over which a sauce has been thrown and then the subsequent mix poured into a crock pot. No evidence whatsoever of meat being cooked in the sauce or the sauce in the tagine. Similarly the Cous cous Maison was a dollop of plain Cous cous with some merguez and grilled chicken thrown on top and an asparagus or two slung to the side. I thought cooking was all about letting flavours flow and contrast and all those other things. This was Moroccan fast food and pretty unimpressive it was too. There must be better places that serve better Moroccan food.
La Fibule – MoseleyI visited on the evening of Friday, February 17. After checking out several other restaurants in the nearby Chinese area, I decided to choose the Ken Ho - from the outside it looked nice and there were a few other diners.I went fairly early, around 8.30pm, and many other restaurants were pretty dead, maybe it was weather. The food, I had satay duck, was average - the rice was sticky and not fluffy. Although there were only three other tables occupied when I went in, the customer service was abysmal. The young girl who served me was fine but after the food arrived I was just left.I needed a knife, but unable to catch the eye of the staff who were chatting at the bar and doing some cleaning, I had to walk up and ask for one.I finished my drink and would have ordered another if I had had the chance but no one noticed my glass was empty and I couldn't be bothered to walk over to the bar again. After my plates were cleared I had to catch the eye of a waitress to get my bill.I paid and as I got up to leave none of the staff even bothered to say goodbye or thank you - one sour faced waitresses just stared at me as I walked out - she probably noticed I had not left a tip.I would not recommend this restaurant.
Ken Ho Restaurant – Birmingham City CentreI bought a Groupon deal for this restaurant which was supposed to be worth up to £59.60. Only to find out they have a separate Groupon menu which serves less than half the portions compared to dishes of the same price from the regular menu! A starter worth £4.95 was literally 80-90 sauce and had 2 cubes of lamb each 1 square inch in size. One King prawn main dish which was supposed to be worth £9.95 had 3 small prawns in it! When I complained to the owner he told me that Groupon portions were indeed smaller but did not admit this to be misleading. If not, than what is the 66 discount based on? Not to mention the fact we had to wait one full hour for our food. Absolutely horrible experience!
Spice Room – Sutton ColdfieldSeven of us went there for Mother's Day last year, made to feel really welcome, food was amazing. that was about third visit there, will book up again this year.My Mother who is 87 loved it there.. Just one comment I think they should give all Mother's a rose, makes for just a sweet touch.
Gian Carlo’s – Hall GreenThis is a really beautiful place to eat
Ye Olde Toll House – WillenhallFood served quickly Drinks were reasonable and children's play area fantastic.
The Bostin Fittle – Dudleyfantastic restaurant ,great staff always pleased to see you on your return, good food. and nice surroundings
Kababish – MoseleyFood good and consistent everytime I visit (been a customer for 8 years now). Highly recommended.
Omar Khayam – Northfieldtable booked for 13 people to celebrate a double birthday celebration. table was booked for 8.30 arrived at 8.20pm to find the table being utilised. we were advised by the manager that it would be a 10 - 15 minute wait. i pointed out that it would be longer than that as the people had only just started their main meals. because there was a large group of us and there was nowhere to wait other than outside i said we would go and have a quick drink somewhere. the manager said he would call my mobile within 10 - 15 mins. Half an hour later i called him he said again 10 - 15 minute wait. we decided to go down there. We eventually got on the table roughly 9:40 poppadoms were just put on the table without being asked did we want them or advised that there was a charge for them. my main meal arrived at 10:20. we had a birthday cake to cut and asked the waiters if they could cut it and bring it out we were just given napkins when we asked for plates we were told the kitchen was closed. (like it was our fault)!!!!!!. we were not offered the desert menu neither were we offered coffee (i suppose because of the time). I pointed this out to the manager on our way out of the restaurant , he then said can i get you a coffee (should that not have happened when we were seated) and not offered on the back of me pointing this out. To many restaurants in solihull are taking custom for granted Let me point out EVERY RESTARAUNT HAS ITS DAY AND WORD GETS AROUND. Stop being so complacent. Very disappointed. but will say the meal was lovely compliments to the chef and BOOOHHHHHH to the manager very poor management.
Spicewoods – SolihullInteresting setting, fabulous food and very good service, highly recommended.
Big Nanny’s Caribbean Restaurant – HockleyVisited this restaurant recently. Although the service was excellent the food can only be described as average. Our night was spoiled by having to ask the waitress to tell a small child - presumably the owner's - to stop running around and making a noise.
EverBright – SolihullDO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. We had ordered Papdi Chaat & Bhel Puri but both were pathetic. behl Puri was mixed with only Tamarind sauce & hence was very sour & inedible. papdi Chaat was even worse with salt added generously & again the same tamarind sauce giving a worst taste. I could very well make a better chaat at home. They have completely forgotten to add any sweet or chilli sauces to balance the salt & tamarind. I had a stomach upset after eating here. The service was even more pathetic. They were busy watching TV & we had a hard time grabbing their attention.
Chandni Chowk Restaurant and Sweets – HandsworthBeen going here for about 25 years, previous owner had constant high quality food, John started of well well, but must say the quality have serious gone down hill, a pity use to be a good chip shop.
Broad Lane Chippy The – Kings Heathwe visited the b26 on the 13 November there were four of us in our party including a cancer patient and a baby of eighteen months out of the four of us three of us suffered severe food poisoning tests were carried out and environmental health experts confirmed the problems at the restaurant include cross contamination of food and other dirty working practices the b26 should be avoided unless you want to spend a week on the toilet this is a dangerous place to eat if you value your health
B26 Food Of India – SheldonComplete waste of money based on following reasons: 1: level of service poor guys running around like headless chickens. 2: quality of food very poor and cold served in second bowls. 3: value for money complete rip off. Did highlight concerns to management all we got was attitude aggression. Stay away from that place.
Hajee’s Spices – Balti TriangleI recently ate at The Open Arms on Daventry Road with my partner and we were both very impressed with the standard of food that was served to us. We ate on a busy Saturday at 6.30. We didn't have to wait long at all and the food tasted great! All meals were very reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning to the Open Arms in the very near future!
