Ordered a meal for four and waited an hour to be served. No explanations offered, no apology. Restaurants must know when there is going to be a delay and should be up front about this. If we had known we would have gone elsewhere

Tirfounder Fields Brewers Fayre – Aberdare

I cant believe how inexpensive a really good time can be, at The Swan Inn, Nottage. The real ales are £2 a pint and two rump steaks with all the trimmings and cooked to perfection comes to under a tenner. Fantastic food very warm welcome, we will be back.

Swan Inn – Porthcawl
Lozilla

Il Vesuvio in Llantwit Major is a real find. Went 'on spec' with four friends on Saturday evening, despite being busy, they found space for us. To be honest we weren't expecting much, just happy to be out together for a bite and a glass of wine. What a surprise! Traditional Italian food, great ingredients beautifully cooked, good service. Everyone very impressed. One Italian food lover who's fairly hard to please announced that her spaghetti carbonara was the best she's had. Ever. Our Gamba prawns were fat and succulent and the sauce was finger licking good. Perfectly cooked pasta, sauces just right. The veal was tender and tasty, the chicken sublime, and vegetables nicely 'al dente'. Niggles? well at a push - the glass of house white, not great. Ice cream was probably not italian. But the icy beers and bottle of recommended red were delicious. Fairly priced, well served good food, only a hop & skip from the train station. We'll be back!

Il Vesuvio – Barry
Susan From Merthyr

We have been eating here for years and if I am given a choice of where to eat then I will always opt for Alfreds. We live in Merthyr Tydfil which is 12 miles away and distance is no object the food is top class so are the staff and I would heartily recommend it to anyone. Really fresh meat and fish and a wonderful selection cooked to perfection.

Alfreds Bar and Grill – Pontypridd
Snailsworth

Visited this place many times always had decent food and service. complained about an overcooked steak and had the waiter cutting it up in front of me and trying to force feed me saying"its not overcooked it lovely just taste it!!" When I refused to pay for the STEAK although willing to pay for the rest of the bill over £50, he pretended to phone the police which was rather intimidating. . We asked to see the owner who was dining in the restaurant at the time and came over and told the waiter to turn the music up so nobody could hear us complain. To which the owner TOLD us we had had too much to drink (1 bottle wine between two) and man handled myself and my wife out of the door

Braseria El Prado – Bridgend
Jonesey

Absolute joke. Over-priced and staff rude and disorganised. Try Little India instead...no delusions of grandeur there.

Bay of Bengal – Tenby
David Kay

A very old pub with great pub food (I had Faggots and peas). Good beer and very interesting decor. There is also a nice walk not far from the coast 10mins away.

Plough and Harrow – Cowbridge

the food at this county pub was lovely, i enjoyed every mouthful of my mix grill, would recommend for a nice meal and warm welcome

The Corner Piece Inn – Haverfordwest

Passed it many times but never eaten there until yesterday, heard good things about it.Ordered chcken fillet with cheesy potato, well there was supposed to be potato, more like Smash with a faint cheese taste and only a tablespoon full, (could have been a good thing). You could see that it had obviously been in a microwave as the garlic type sauce had gone hard around the side of the plate. My friend had sausage and mash.......very disappointing. It put me in mind of the food you get served as buy one get one free in Tesco or Sainsburys, which is fine if they charge the same price. Will keep mon passing by in future.

Castell Mynach – Pontyclun
Char30

food was lovely, staff friendly and large beer garden safe for children. Very pleasant and will call again soon.

The Bell – Abergavenny
Ewen

8th July 09. Ate here midweek, the place has a lovely feel, with just the right level of background music. The food was great 9/10 and the service 8/10. 3 course meal was £20 which is excellent value, will use again and again.

Junction 28 – Newport

Chef puts 100% effort and this place seems to always win awards for their quality of cooking...

Zaal – Swansea

Been here a couple of times for food and haven't been disappointed. Attentive service, imaginative menus and delicious food. Only drawback-term time, the bar becomes like a student's union for the nearby Atlantic College.
