Warm and welcoming eating area in the front of the pub. Quick service on selecting our meal provided by the pub owner. We were pleased with our meal and the cost. Also, pub owner kindly provided two Canadian tourists with a Jennings Beer Glass to take back to Summerland, British Columbia. I managed to get the glass back home in one piece and my husband (a beer drinker) was thrilled. Thank you. Maureen Crawford

The restaurant is very warm and welcoming. The food is fantastic as is the service and the lay out is quite interesting. The name loose box come from some of the booths being the old stable for the working horses and many of the old furnishings still remain. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes something a bit different.

We were surprised to find a contempory style pub in Windermere. The Angel is perched on the side of a hill in the town centre. The great Al Fresco area affords pleasant views and the interior has a modern city bar feel but still retains the rustic touches you'd expect in the Lakes. The food is pub style but with more of a fine dining approach to presentation. Give it a go!

As locals, we have seen three incarnation of the Log House as a restaurant and it has to be said it has gone from strength to strength. The menu is well varied and the Mediterranean style suits the quality produce used. Heath Calman's cooking is a must!

After reading a recommendation of on 'Sugarvine', my husband and I, who have recently moved fairly local to Brigsteer tried out this wonderfully friendly and relaxed establishment, and we can certainly now say it is to be our no 1 place to eat! The food, (being the best we have dined on since moving to the area from London 16 months ago) was expertly cooked and beautifully presented, it was served by a polite, attentive and pleasant waitress and the delicious wine recommended and poured by a charming and friendly chap which all together made our 10th wedding anniversary one to remember. We felt compelled to review The Wheatsheaf on this web site and hope others will share our love of the place (and that of the charming village of Brigsteer).

The Ratty Arms was converted from the old Furness Railway Station at Ravenglass and still retains a unique ?ailway flavour? On arrival there is a choice of: ?Smoking, sitting at large cubicle-style tables in the main bar area ?Non-smoking in a railway-carriage style extension under the wings of the station awning, with a railway engine fresco visible to those who face the Barrow end of the line, and ?Al fresco at tables situated in a paved part of the old station yard, ideal for a summer? day/evening. The cuisine is a mixture of home-cooked culinary delights, from Lamb Jennings at the top end of the range to a superb Club Sandwich for those inclined to the ?ighter bites? The quality is consistently high, the service excellent, and the ambiance most agreeable. Traditional beers are served with Guest ales to the Landlord? choice, and take-outs are available from the bar or kitchen. The pricing structure gives a day or evening out which is really good value for money, and which complements a day on the adjacent ?a?l Ratty?narrow-gauge railway. Well recommended. JS

The food was to die for, unpretentious staff, family friendly but great for couples and adult parties also, cannot possibly recommend this fantastic restaurant more strongly!!!

Having been recommended by a growing number of friends who live in the south lakes my wife and I decided to make a special journey from our home in Cheshire, The setting was a charming traditional village pub, the inside was spotlessly clean and fresh smelling (a totally non-smoking inn) and had a traditional feel to it, the restaurant was superbly presented with crisp linen table cloths and napkins, sparkling wine glasses and polished cutlery, The service was second to none and the food was first class, not pub grub but fine food you might expect to find in a very expensive restaurant but at a very sensible price, All in all a very enjoyable occasion, next time we are going to stay over to further sample the wine list. Thank you to every one involved and keep up the good work.

what a great venue for a mid-week lunch. three course lunch for £7.25. cant be beaten anywhere. very good

The restaurant was a joy to enter it looked as though you were in Italy the decor was outstanding as was the food. And a very friendly service from all the staff that made you feel at home.

This is a fantastic little coffee shop in the heart of the lakes. The staff are extremely charming and smiley. There is an exquisite toilet that is entered only through a code with charming character! Enough said go and order a fine Mocha and see.

What a wonderful experience, from the moment you pull in to the drive way you are treated to a marvellous experience. The lutchyen designed hotel is very impressive. the friendliness of all staff you meet is 2nd to none. Excellent service that is only surpassed by the food.
