Quality meal and service, even got potato dumplings that I had cheekily asked for ! Couldn’t actually finish my meal as there was that much.

3 night stay in Whitby, ate 3 nights at Magpie Cafe. Service is excellent. Menu is superb. Love eating here. Highly recommend

Spend a week in Whitby and visited Magpies 3 times. Never disappoints. The staff is very attentive and friendly, the food is second to none and the service is very swift. I could eat my way up and down the menu and try order something different each time. It is good to see that Magpies has not become a victim of their own success and still run the establishment on traditional values. I can highly recommend a visit.

Fabulous food. Great service. Reasonable prices. Been visiting for over 20 years and never had anything but the aforementioned! Highly recommend.

Food was great and surprised at how much yiu get and the taste was amazing. Price was good. Service was excellent and efficient.

Fish and chip Friday a family tradition, but never experienced quite like visiting The Magpie. The welcome was great, our seats gave us good views outside, everyone was in good spirits and enjoying the meals. The fish and chips are the best we have ever had, no excess grease, beautiful firm fish, so fresh, batter as light as fairy dust. Looking forward to coming back.

Another brilliant visit to the Magpie. Our trip to Whitby isn’t complete without having dinner there. The food is simply amazing and the staff very welcoming. Highly recommended

Had a few days in Whitby 12 to 15 October and couldn't leave without visiting the Magpie. Had fantastic meal the fish was superb as was the scampi, excellent homemade tartare sauce Our waitress was lovely and gave us lots of information about Whitby as well as our choices of food and drink, and we were made to feel special, Place is spotlessly clean so felt in a safe environment. Cannot fault it at all

We were in Whitby for just a couple of days and had to find a fish and chip shop, of course and after reading the reviews settled on the Magpie. In the main we were highly delighted with two small exceptions. Firstly after we were seated we waited a long time before anybody seemed to recognise we were actually there and secondly on quality we felt our chips were underdone, barely coloured and anaemic looking. Maybe due to the throughput they were pulled out of the fryer a little early?

Great food and service, and the grilled fish was cooked to perfection. Fantastic service from Jeanette and the team.

Food was fantastic as usual, middle of October, so still wise to book in advance.
