Prashad – BradfordFantastic value for money 2 for £30 including bottle of house wine during the week what more could you want and food really good. We go at least once a month and quite often more
Saffron Restaurant – HullThis pub has a warm atmosphere with the bar area being very nice. However the food is not good, the sweet and sour tasted like Heinz tomato soup and they don't serve a carvery on sundays. Disappointing as I only live round the corner and it would be a good local if the food was up to scratch.
Scawsby Mill – DoncasterAs a person of half Italian origin, and half Sandal - but of Restaurant family origins -Rinaldi's has a 'pull'. I have been perhaps 3 times in 5 years as I live in the SouthEast. I feel the food is good, the service friendly, and the atmosphere vibrant. I was last there 13/04/08 with my mother (A sandal girl of some 82 years young). As she was married to a restaurateur (actually he started as Granelli's ice cream before it was bought out by Lumbs) then relocated to Wales where he opened his eateries. The family are bred on restaurants, and this is one I would recommend most highly! For a run down on our 'fare' check out the Cooking of Parma. Rinaldi's, it must be said, has it in abundance.
Rinaldis – WakefieldGood Home Cooking. Nothing Flash, but good home cooking, well worth the drive into the heartland of Calderdale and West Yorkshire. James and Mira's warm welcome as a regular makes you feel at ease from stepping through the door. Excellent condition Thwaites Ale and Lagers. Give it a try.
Duke of York – HalifaxWe were expecting great things from this raved about restaurant when we booked a table for 14 on saturday night. It was a hen party and a special event, the table was booked for 20;30 we arrived at 20;15 and were shown to a very busy bar area where we had pre dinner drinks. All well so far, 21;00 came and we were still stood in the bar area, at 21;15 we spoke to the manager who told us that out tabble was still in use and its guests had now finnished there main course, it would depend on there further requremants as to when we would be seated. It was 21;50 before we were seated a ful 1 hour and 20 mins after out table had beed booked. we were told a booking only gets you a table not a time slot! The food came quickley as our order had been taken in the bar. The starters were devoured in a matter of seconds, we were all so hungry. The main course followed very soon after that, too soon. Deserts and coffee followed at this point the staff were staring to close up for the night. The food was good but the service poor, it was a special night and we all had a really good time it is a shame that things were held up and then rushed. I feel i have to comment on the music also which was far too loud, you could not chat over the music. It is a shame when you go out with good company you can not hear conversations. All in all the food was ok but I will not return to aldos, such a shame as it would have not taken much to make a good night first class.
Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonFour of us had a superb meal at Ripon's Café Thai in Kirkgate last night. We received a very friendly welcome and plenty of help to choose from the extensive menu. My companions chose a selection of meat and vegetable dishes to share and loved them all. As the only veggie in the group, I decided to try Gaeng Pah - Jungle Curry - a very hot and spicy curry with mixed vegetables and herbs. I was offered it with or without tofu and great care was taken to make sure that it was the right level of hotness for my palate. It was delicious and the lychees I ordered afterwards complemented it nicely. Highly recommended - we shall certainly be going again.
Cafe Thai – RiponBooked a table for 15 for my wifes' 40th birthday and we were told a party of that size would have to have a fixed menu .One of our party was vegetarian who has had tapas before and enjoyed a wide selection of dishes at other establishments .Frankly the food was of good quality but nowhere near enough dishes for the people dining , such that some of us had to split a meatball and the vegetarian diner was just given an extra serving of potatoes ! The managers' attitude to our complaints was appalling and as a group we decide that the meal only warranted a bill of £13 per head , not the £17 he wanted. He refused to give me his name and job title so I could contact his head office to register our concerns , so I addressed the diners in the restaurant as a group to let them know our thoughts on how La Vina handled this important event. P.S all our group were professionals from Leeds and Manchester who have dined throughout the world and we were all adamant we would not dine with this chain again.
La Vina – Leeds City Centrefood very good portions a little on the small size service poor
Design House – HalifaxZachary's is a revelation. Wonderful 'Celebration Menu' @ £25 per head must make it the best value going! meticulously prepared and presented food with faultless service and attention. Look no further than a visit to Fulneck for a meal to remember.
Zachary’s At Fulneck – PudseyIve been dining here for 14 years. The best curry house around. Cheap is not the word. Inexpensive value for money, yes. Ideal for people who cant be bothered with all the fake, nice ,hello sir nonsence. Order. get quickly. scoff, leave happy and not annoyed. The food speaks for itself.
Rajpoot Restaurant – ShipleyFantastic location, welcoming coal fires, great atmosphere, great food & drink. What more can i say...
The Ford Inn – HolmfirthWe went to this pub for a bar meal in the week and it is placed in the most beautiful setting. Although waiting approx 30 mins for our starter, when it came we were nicely surprised it was very good and all fresh produce, unfortunately we had to wait a further 30 minutes for a main course which was not as successful as the starter. However, it is obvious the chef has a talent but more obvious a huge passion for food, I just hope he/she is able to turn it around and produce meals to the same standard as the starter and within sufficient time scales. Good luck!!
Kings Arms – WakefieldTwo dips missing on the appetisers but washed out on the mains - they were so watery and bland I had to get the Missus to reduce them in frying pans. A very strange looking and tasting yellow sticky substance on the grilled prawns - first time I went it was provincial but OK. This time couldn't stomach it. Daylight robbery in view of the fact they advertise prices on their website but charge more. Why is it I always have to drive to Leeds or Manchester to get a real food fix. Come on you Guys wake up and shake up or get out. You ruined my night.
Thai Sakon Restaurant – HuddersfieldI know that many people when asked to name an Italian restaurant in Bradford city centre would instantly name the one in the Bradford’s West End tucked in between the kebab shops, bars and curry houses - which is endlessly packed out with diners too lazy to explore further afield - but if you walk just another five minutes into town you’ll be heartily rewarded by coming across Mamma Mias on Upper Piccadilly. I ended up in Mamma Mia’s on a weekday evening and was bowled over at how brilliant it was. Delicious food, excellent ambience, and fantastic wine list. It’s a great place to take a large group of friends for some fantastic unpretentious dining - but also I would recommend it for romantic evenings with that special someone. Would thoroughly recommend the pizzas - with authentic toppings and deliciously fresh and thin bases - a true Italian experience. I would recommend this restaurant in a second - and will definitely go back!
Mamma Mia – BradfordThis restaurant was very enjoyable the all you can eat buffet was superb value for money and the quality & variety of the meals was excellent would def visit again.
Mashriq – BradfordAte here last night, it was a bit of a disappointment. The starters were lovely (prawn cocktail and garlic mushrooms) however, the pizza was not fresh or home made and was definitely frozen. The pizza was a perfect round shape and had marking on the base. The tortilla was also bought in. This is not what I expected of an Italian and after reading other peoples reviews did not expect this. We will definitely not dine here again!
Valentinos Italian Restaurant – WakefieldI went to Zouk last week and all i can say is whats all the hype about the service was not soo good and the food was average. One of the waiter in particular looked like the owner would not stop looking over at our table when eatng what was kind of intimidating. Go to Akbars instead better food better money!!
