Colours Restaurant – St.HelensFriends and I went to a 7:30pm sitting. While the food was good, we were very rushed by the staff, with plates being removed the second we finished, and the next course appearing immediately. Fine if you're in a hurry, but not condusive to a night out with friends, and a bit annoying given that this is not cheap.
Sapporo Teppanyaki Liverpool – Liverpool City CentreWent here on a Wednesday night and had the 2 course special. Main course was a massive piece of pork with plenty of vegetables and sliced potato in rich creamy sauce. Came with full size bottle of wine each, all for 12.95 pp Service was very good, plenty of space between tables. It was quiet when we got there about 6, but soon got busy. Would definitely go there again.
Bistro Pierre – Liverpool City CentreWe had a very nice evening at this restaurant, food was good and very generous, we went for pork kebab, which was a little tough and afelia, which was not as i remember but still the Greek salad, tahini sauce, pitta bread etc were very good. Wine also was good. Good atmosphere and you can also smoke if you wish. We will definitely go back.
Crete Greek Taverna – SouthportThe food at Esteban is excellent and is great value for money. Out of all the liverpool restaurants, it is a personal favourite, it ticks all the boxes, and never fails to impress!
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthVisited the Retsina a couple of times now and was very impressed with the food and service. Excellent for a local restaurant and value for money.
Retsina Greek Restaurant – West DerbyWe visited Tapas Tapas on a Saturday night and I must say the food was amazing. We had 5 Tapas as a starter between the three of us, and it was just the right amount to set our appetites going. We then ordered the special mixed meat paella, which was the best paella I have ever tasted. The service was absolutely outstanding and the staff were extremely smiley. However we did notice the manager at one point screaming at a certain member of staff which made quite a few tables turn to look, it spoilt the atmosphere upstairs automatically. The young girl looked petrified and we all felt really sorry for her. Over all we loved Tapas Tapas!!!!
Tapas Tapas – WaterlooI simply enjoyed every bit of this pub the landlord was great and made us feel very welcome food was wonderful and beer was even better will defo be back again
Bear and Staff – WooltonCame in off the street on a wet Tuesday night, warm welcome, drink @ the bar good aperitifs Its a good room and the service is friendly and to the point. I had chicken livers then a seafood risotto all good, my partner the mushrooms and a steak we enjoyed all of it with a decent bottle of white. I was amused by the warmed brandy with its napkin hat, and a couple of good coffees. Pretty slick really
Piccolino – Liverpool City CentreI love this place! - having discovered it by chance last year it never fails to disappoint. I went for a pre- theatre meal this week with my Mum and yet again it was brilliant. The quality of the food is excellent, it has a welcoming relaxed atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. You almost feel like you could be sitting in a Parisian bistro with the dimmed lights, candles in their wine bottles and the French posters on the wall. If all this wasn't enough, it is fantastic value for money - you really cant beat it in terms of quality and price.
Bistro Pierre – Liverpool City CentreThe food is fab in here, takes a bit longer to be served, but you know everything is cooked from scratch even the deserts. No microwave rubbish in here. Lovely surroundings to go with your meal
St John Restaurant at the Sir Thomas Hotel – Liverpool City CentreMy husband and I go to the soul cafe most Saturdays as our girls go to the dance school nearby. We love the relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied and impressive and the staff are always friendly and efficient. It is a bit different from most cafes in Liverpool as the music they play is great too.
Soul Cafe – Liverpool City CentreOn Saturday 18 February 2006, my wife and I ate here for a post valentines meal. The food was absolutely fantastic. I would go as far to say one of the best meals I have ever eaten in Liverpool and the service was second to none. The restaurant is situated on a slightly raised level to that of the bar area and a vocal / guitar act played at a comfortable volume in the corner of the bar area. (This was no cheesy social club act - but a talented, confident musician at work) We both chose a soup to start. The soup was full of flavour, thick in texture, piping hot and a good sized bowlful (approx £4) and we followed this with a fillet of beef (£19.95 each). The beef was cooked to perfection and the knife simply glided through the meat. The beef came with mushroom and a small stack of deauphinoise potatoes - which were also really tasty, it was however necessary to order a side, to ensure the meal was fulfilling!! I opted for a side salad and my wife opted for the seasonal vegetables. The salad was crisp and light with a pleasant dressing and the seasonal vegetables were crisp and crunchy, yet nice and hot. We washed down our meal with a bottle of Rose (Zinfandel) which cost approx £15 yet unfortunately we had no room for a dessert! (The people on the table next to us however appeared to thoroughly enjoy theirs!) All in all - if you want to impress, or you have a special occasion that you wish to celebrate - Opt for St John Restaurant at the Sir Thomas Hotel. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for a fantastic meal.
St John Restaurant at the Sir Thomas Hotel – Liverpool City CentreI visited this restaurant on Saturday 18th February. We had to wait five minutes for the table but we were seen too as soon as we went in. We could not fault the service at all. From the time of ordering our starters and delivery was no more than five mins - truly excellent. The presentation of the food was brilliant as were the staff. Would definitely go back.
Il Forno – Liverpool City Centrefood was ok service was good beautiful decor worth a visit if just for the decor.!
Alma De Cuba – Liverpool City CentreWent to Alma de Cuba on a Wednesday night (day after Valentines). Booked table for 8.45 but had a bit of a wait, it was so busy. It was worth it. Food was delicious. Surroundings are fantastic and atmosphere really good, quite busy for a Wednesday. Service was a little slow but waitresses were lovely and friendly and even gave us cushions cos the chairs are a little low. My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and are booking to go back asap. We both had fillet steak was amazing as was the mash (with bacon). Bar very good as well.
Alma De Cuba – Liverpool City CentreAbsolutely delicious! Been a number of times and never been disappointed. Excellent sized portions for the cost. The creamiest korma you could ever imagine, if not slightly too creamy! Staff are prompt and excellent at their jobs, even if they aren't overly friendly and pretentious. Having the privacy of the booths is excellent, however you can hear other peoples conversations quite loud. Still a grade A restaurant though!
Uni Restaurant – Liverpool City CentreThe Gulshan is a superb curry house. Friendly & knowledgeable staff, decent prices and great food. All the usual suspects are there on the menu along with interesting vegetable and fish dishes plus specialities like green coriander balti masalas and mustard baltis. Highly Recommended.
