Have been here thrice. The service has always been excellent and attentive. The food is consistently superb, striking a fine balance between haute cuisine and everyday local fare. All the dishes are inventive and well thought out, without being too exotic. I look forward to visiting very often in the future.

Many thanks for a great evening with well-presented excellent food, steaks cooked to perfection, and waited on by pleasant attentive staff. The owners were pleasant and helped with service also. Pleasant surroundings and we will definitely be back.

Good menu, delicious food. Restaurant had a good atmosphere and a great choice for a pre theatre meal with family. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Recommend.

The food was of very good quality &plentiful I had steak pie all meat pastry was fluffy &cooked to perfection my wife had the fish I’m sure sourced locally it was a perfect full size of plate staff then said you could have a half fish as it was too much for my wife’s appetite we ate from the set dinner menu so 4 choices starter&Main will return for sure

Our first visit for lunch and chose the set menu, food was excellent portions we're really good, chicken and leek pie was fresh made. All the staff were lovely very friendly even though the hotel was extremely busy for a lunchtime. Will definitely visit again

Nostalgic visit to golden lion for a meal with my 86yr old father. Vegan options brilliant, staff cheery under great pressure. Staff performed above and beyond in order to try and satisfy the demand on the day. Management were not visible to us and should have been out supporting the staff and communicating the expected delays to the customers. The kitchen were producing the food as quickly as they could and it was delicious when it arrived. Communication to customers from management was the only issue on the day.

Third rate, needs to understand the market Attempting to compete with accredited restaurants with menu and pricing however quality of food does not match Food was fine, nothing special but equally not terrible quality Service is fast which is never a bad thing

This restaurant has been open for just over 6 months. I have been 4 times and it has been excellent every time. The soups, starters, main courses have all been very good. I will certainly be going again and again in 2023.

Party of 16, had the Festive Menu, food was lovely, well presented, staff very friendly and efficient, would definitely recommend going.

Sunday Roast was superbly delicious - all the usual things you'd expect on the plate, but everything just perfectly done. Starter soup (parsnip, celeriac + apple) was extraordinary - who'd have thought it could be that good!

Christmas dinner for 4 pensioners on 16/12/22. Food pre-ordered but on hearing what the soup of the day was, one of our party asked to change to the prawn cocktail - absolutely no problem at all. The courses were served timeously and there was no pressure for us to vacate the table afterwards (which can sometimes be a pain after spending a fair amount on meals and drinks). The staff were friendly, efficient and courteous. Certainly getting back to it’s pre covid high standards.

First time at the Ravelston, booked a table for 2. Greeted by a young lad very friendly and polite. The waitress and waiter take took food order were nice and friendly. The food ordered was hot and very tastey. Defo would go back again..
