Chilli Banana – AigburthI visited Esteban recently and had a brilliant time, the food was excellent, the staff very friendly (especially the charismatic Adam behind the bar). I would definitely recommend this place to friends and will almost certainly be back! Only small criticism, the hostess lady could probably do with smiling, it wouldn't kill her! (maybe she was having a bad day)
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthWent to the Gulshan on Friday 20th March2009, waited a long time for the starters, they were cold when they arrived. Service was awful, the food was ok, but only just. This was our 1st and last visit to the Gulshan.
Gulshan – AigburthAbsolutely love Moon & Pea, Been on numerous occasions for breakfast and lunch, such a relaxed atmosphere, quirky books and pictures on the wall, great music and some lovely comfy couches to relax with coffee, or a pimped up hot chocolate!! The only downfall is it gets quite busy and can be cramped and sometimes struggle for a seat as nobody wants to leave!!! Food is great and staff are so friendly and approachable, Owners are 2 lovely girls - 1 with moon head and 1 with pea head - hence the name!!! Truly recommend this place!!!! Also My Lovely auntie Lily owns Lark Lane newsagents - so pop in there for your newspapers and receive a lovely warm welcome! x
The Moon and Pea – AigburthReally enjoyed this place, looks great and the food was excellent. Will definitely be going again.
Maranto’s Restaurant – AigburthThe food here is delicious. Great portions and well presented. The staff are attentive and well mannered offering impeccable service. Only criticism being the hostess who was quite rude to my husband on arrival and overwhelmed us with a smell of cigarette smoke. Hopefully this was just a bad evening for her. We will be back next weekend for the much hyped breakfasts
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthIn all honesty I can only say don't go there- especially for breakfast. The food is fine but the service especially by the youngish girl this morning was appalling and bordering on offensive. We did not leave a tip and will not be returning. Friends of ours are emigrating to Australia on Wednesday and after a last night out we decided to go for a last hangover cure breakfast. We decided to go to Esteban where we have been on many occasions over the years. Unfortunately this proved to be a mistake. The food was fine - although the breakfast menu is limited and is not children-friendly however the service was appalling. Upon arrival the restaurant was not yet open and did not open until 5 past 12 although the advertising board outside claimed that breakfast is served between 12 and 3. By the time it was actually opened quite a crowd had gathered. The woman who opened the door invited people to take seats. There was a sign asking for people to wait to be seated however no-one was there to greet us. We made our way to a table suitable for seven and were we have sat on many occasions in the past. We were then accosted in the most arrogant manner by the 'waitress' who demanded to know how many were in our party, even though there were clearly other people taking their own seats in the restaurant and who were not addressed in the same manner. Our orders were taken by another waitress who was inoffensive. We each ordered full English breakfasts but with different extras. However when our breakfasts arrived the rude young girl announced "Full English breakfast" to the tavle and when we pointed out to her that no-one had ordered a plain English breakfast she just kept repeating this like a mantra. The other waitress then brought more breakfasts and explained that the extras were coming on separate plates - which does not make a great deal of sense since we were already crowded on the table and as it turned out made it diffiuclt to account for what had been provided. In the end we did not receive two of the extras that we had ordered. I do not see how the rude young waitress could not have simply told us that the extras were coming separately. It was only the fact that this was the last occasion that I would see my friends for a while that we did not complain at the time. Nevertheless we will not be returning and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthI used to give this place a miss as it was really close to home and I didn't feel like I'd have had a night out if I popped round the corner. Big mistake! I now travel 8 miles to eat there and will do it regularly. The basics i.e. popadums and nan bread are spot on. Amazingly, I find some restaurants have already failed at this point. There is a fine pickle tray with 6 items including a delicious sweet chilli sauce. One or two unusual items on the menu. On my first visit, I had a salmon curry and was struck by the extremely generous amount of salmon served. Again, I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount of prawns in my Chilli Massala this weekend and served in a sauce that left my mouth well aware that it had just consumed a curry. Plenty of staff in attendance, ensuring quick service despite the understandable demand for tables.
Light Of Bengal – AigburthI couldn't recommend this restaurant more highly! I'd definitely say that this is THE best Indian restaurant in Liverpool bar none. The food is amazing with a brilliant array of food. The take-away service is great, your food is ready within 20 minutes and at a great price. If your looking for a night in with a bootle of Tiger and a curry, then this is the place for you.....
Red Fort – AigburthWouldn't eat here again, wine bar, more like a greasy spoon, sorry but just didn't enjoy it at all, atmosphere very dull.
Keith’s Food & Wine Bar – AigburthMaranto's has delicious food! and the staff are happy to help!. fantastic venue!
Maranto’s Restaurant – AigburthHave tried many Indians in and around Liverpool, i have found that the Red Fort is by far the best. Menu choice is fantastic; service is great and most important the quality of food is outstanding. to start go for poppadoms with the selection of pickles lime pickle is great, I couldn’t recommend a main as there’s far to many to choose from. I enjoyed the chef’s specials. And also the chicken chat was great. if you want an Indian then this is the place to go 10/10
Red Fort – AigburthSuperb local restaurant - We are curry connoisseurs and have eaten in most Liverpool curry houses, preferring this (and Mayur, Duke Street). However, Light of Bengal all round for food, price, friendliness, comfort and service is definitely at the top of our list. We recommend to you the Begal Chef's Special - one of the most expensive meals the restaurant offers (around £8.95) but absolutely thoroughly worth it and you won't be disappointed! The Light of Bengal is only a straight bus route from town on the 86 or 82 route (up Park Road on to Aigburth Road). You can get off the bus right opposite the restaurant. Unless you are after spending top dollar (v. expensive!) at Mayur, take the time and make the effort to go to The Light of Bengal and eat like kings for half the price! xx
Light Of Bengal – Aigburthwe used to dine in Esteban almost twice a week...Since Lady in Black is not very friendly to us we had to change are minds about eating in Est. God she is awful! Who does she think she is?Get a life woman!
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthBooked Sunday lunch following recommendations and good reviews. Disappointing hardly cuts it. Decor was through rustic to shabby, no menus just board, very limited choice, one meat roast one nut roast then salads and sandwiches of one sort or another - even had run out of toasties (requested in desperation). What food we had was at best average. Had asked for a "good" table and while it offered some seclusion it was under a skylight which was leaking and wet our coats, bags etc. which had to be "hung up" on the floor. Atmosphere lively and obviously popular but at best cheap and cheerful (?) for a student perhaps but does not compare with proper restaurants on Lark Lane. Sorry.
Keith’s Food & Wine Bar – AigburthWe ate recently at the Que Pasa and took advantage of their midweek meal deal. The house white wine is excellent and this was free as we had two courses each. The portion sizes are great if you love your food. Nacho's to start we shared and then I had the special homemade burger which was scrummy and partner had the monkfish Which he happily announced was superb. Dessert was divine. It was the house apple pie special. It was quiet for a Monday night but that suited us nicely for celebrating our anniversary.
Que Pasa Cantina – AigburthHave been going to this restaurant for years, simply the best, all friends and relatives, who don't live near travel just to go to the restaurant, obviously we have to join them every time!! Staff, food and price can't be beaten. GIVE IT A TRY. You'll love it!
Light Of Bengal – AigburthWent to Esteban for anniversary meal with hubby. Although the food was excellent as always and the service was good the restaurant was just so noisy (8-9pm on a Saturday night). If you're looking for great food and service by all means visit Esteban, but I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic meal for two if you're looking for somewhere to eat at the weekend.
