We booked a table for 6 for sunday lunch. We were welcomed by a friendly waitress who took us to our table. Drinks were ordered quickly. Sunday carvery was outstanding. Meat was booked perfect, homemade Yorkshire puddings and veg all cooked beautifully. Puddings were a very generous size too and tasted amazing. Excellent service.

Their salted caramel ice cream finished off a very pleasant time at the inn. It is not difficult to find, and there is plenty of parking in the village.

We were welcomed warmly by the Manageress and she was so friendly and helpful and told us a bit about the history of the Inn. We ordered from an extensive menu and the food was freshly prepared. It was wholesome, plentiful and delicious and it was no trouble to them if we needed any changes. We were on holiday for the week but if ever down on Exmoor again we would certainly return for a meal.

The staff were so accommodating and they were so happy that we had the company of three Labradors. We enjoyed the convivial atmosphere and general warmth- we will certainly be back!

With the carvery serving three choices of meat and the best roast potatoes for miles, you cant go wrong.. I have no hesitation in recommending The Poltimore Inn as a destination pub for a great eating.
The Poltimore Inn – South MoltonWe visited as a group of 8 who pre-booked for Sunday lunch. We arrived and were welcomed by the lady behind the bar. Taken to our table and ordered drinks. The food was lovely and the staff who were working were brilliant. We had to wait quite a while, it looked like there were limited number of staff and the staff who were working were having to run around trying to do the jobs. This meant that silly mistakes were done like bringing a J20 that hadn’t been opened, or water with no glasses. We had a chuckle and informed the staff and they quickly resolved the issue. The staff were friendly and helpful and did a great job. The lady serving the food was very friendly. Enjoyed the visit and only thing that could have made it better is for more staff as this would have resolved the issues.

We also enjoyed breakfast, all the meat was great quality from a local butcher , as were the vegetables and eggs local produce. Generous portions and reasonably priced.

Great friendly and welcoming staff, fantastic food and the best chips around according to my husband and son. I ate lamb rump, chicen wrapped in bacon with sauce, chicken tika masala and lasagne. My husband loved the fish and chips and my son loved the burger. Highly recommended.
The Poltimore Inn – South MoltonHad a meal there last night 17th July. Wonderful old in. I personally had homemade beef pie it was excellent. Others in my party had the lamb which was also beautiful. Can't fault the pub ,service and food, excellent. Will definitely be returning.

However, I struggled with the generous portions and was obliged to leave some, which I hate doing. Service was good and staff pleasant. Nice setting with views over the valley.
