Great Village – BlackburnI really didnt realise how good our local chinese was untill one night we tried a different local one, as chung seng was closed. I always phone my order in and it is always ready within 20 mins, the food is very fresh and tasty, and the prices are pretty good too.The night we tried another local chinese it went straight in the bin, it was too salty and greasy,So chung seng rules!
Chung Seng TakeAway – BlackburnWent to Northcote recently and I am sorry to say my friend and I were rather disappointed, we had been to Kenny Atkinson at the Orangary at Rockliffe Hall and were blown away by the complex flavours and were looking forward to a Michelin star meal to beat this. But....whilst the presentation was second to none the flavours just weren't there with almost all the courses, no 'Oh wow' punches in your mouth...enticing you to try different combinations of flavours of what was on the plate as we had done at Kenny's place....it was....well...nice. Such a shame the food didn't quite get there for us but the staff were attentive and helpful and we had a lovely evening.
Northcote – Blackburnfour of us went down on saturday, nice place and atmosphere but was surprised to find only one barstaff.two of us had starters, black pudding and the chefs pate which both were deemed delicious.the only thing i wasnt impressed with were the main the tbone for 12 quid wouldnt have fed my child with the ammount of meat and was tasteless and chips were soft and fatty, not for me at all.hubby said the fish was super and would eat again.my friend ordered butterfly chicken with cajun, but wasnt even spicy so maybe extra care on the meat front, out of ten id give a 4 n possibly would go again just to see if it was just a one off .
O’Marley – BlackburnWell, well, well..when so many restaurants are 'OK, but...', its wonderful to dine somewhere this good. To keep it brief the food was probably up amongst the best Italian food we've every had - anywhere. I won't go on.Just get there early and enjoy your food and wine.
Tiggis on the A59 – BlackburnWe were taken there last night by brother and wife as a treat, it was the worst meal, the worst service, also overcharged for coffees and desserts that were not ordered, served by schoolchildren and grossly overpriced.£19.50 for a steak in a restaurant with no atmosphere or ambiance rip off!!Think again Mr Haworth as this is letting your name down badly, never ever will we return. Our advise to other diners CHECK your bill.Disgraceful
Clog and Billycock – BlackburnExcellent food, attentive, friendly staff and good selection of real ales (Thwaites)
Oyster and Otter – BlackburnNice place, food is very nice BUT the whole visit was ruined by the terrible service resulting in the food being cold .Lunch should never take 3 hours , there was nobody taking charge of service, wrong orders in fact dreadfull , will not be going back.
Tiggis on the A59 – Blackburnjust got home, from an early meal outwith my husband and daughter, On arrival it was packed, but we were seated straight away, we were not pounced upon for a drink order but given a few moments to settle in which was nice. We shortly ordered drinks, pint of fosters, 1/2 lemonade and cordial, then after a look at the menus ordered our meals, childs spag bol, and g/bread
Tiggis on the A59 – BlackburnStaff lovely, wine fantastic and a great temp, beer lovely according to Mr Russell food shocking. for how packed this place is... food in need of Gordon Ramsey.. utter rubbish even the lovely waitress said it should never of left the kitchen... maybe i should of ordered the fish and chips// what everyone was having round us bit i opted for burger in a bun.. you could of soled a shoe with it.. disgusting..... shame because we live local and would of used the place regular instead of mucking up the kitchen... wasn't looking for Michelin star but was looking for edible .........
Grey Mare Inn – BlackburnFirst visit to Calypso recently to celebrate my birthday. Food sensational, plentiful and reasonably priced, waitresses and barstaff very welcoming. Soul artist fantastic!!...The mood and experience was second to none!!!!....We would certainly recommend and give this experience 5 stars...Many thanks for a lovely evening! :)
Calypso Restaurant – BlackburnDined at Tiggis last week at lunch time with grand parents and 2 children.Food was the standard which has come to be expected from them! Excellent!! The bill was also very reasonable with the lunch time menu and the children thoroughly enjoyed their food. All in all a great experience and will definitely be going back!

Tiggis on the A59 – BlackburnWe rung up the red lion enquiring about booking for a meal on the 18th may we was told we didn't need to just turn up it cost us all in all £10 in taxi's to be told they were not serving any meals as they had a private function on not only that we don't get out much as we are both disabled and are looking after my 85 year old mother- in law who is on oxygen 24hrs a day we have to rely on carer to be able to come & stay with her so we can both go out together which is not very often so you can imagine why we are not two very happy people thank you to the red lion for a none enjoyable evening which we won't forget in a hurry ....
O’Marley – Blackburndined at tiggis last week in a party of four. we started with cocktails in the beautiful bar and then proceeded to the main dining area where we enjoyed a great meal. good choice of starters and main courses, and all delicious.this was our first visit, but we will certainly be returning.- and may even try a breakfast or afternoon tea - unusually, tiggis is open all day and the bar is open to non diners.this is a lovely restaurant in a beautiful location. the decor is beautiful, the staff were attentive, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening
