Fantastic the toilets were very clean. marvellous meal marvellous service marvellous staff Brilliant
Shajan – BlackburnHave been going here for a good number of years. Generally good Italian cuisine but not many italian staff! Despite always booking never expect to sit down usually up to an hour later than your booking time. Also they also seem to have a high staff turnover of waiting-on staff, usually college age people. Went recently and no rest period between first and second course which I find unacceptable. Despite the above the spare ribs are our fave...the garlic bread to die for... the pollo ala creme yum yum and my favourite the calzone pizza
The Pack Belthorn – BlackburnThis area is lacking of fine dining and cassis is definitely setting its stall out with talk of a Michelin star. I think there is a way to go. The place itself is welcoming and the manager was very attentive. When aiming so high everything has to be almost perfect. The food was very good, not sure about whole black peppercorns to ruin a nice beef dish, when the flavours are so delicate this is far too overpowering. i found the other staff to be less than knowledgeable about the food and I don’t like eyes burning into my head waiting for us to finish. Tell the chefs to stay in the kitchen instead of rummaging in the cutlery draw for all to see. Maybe I’m being picky but when you are asking for such accolades these things must be addressed. That said the other dishes are of 2/3 rosette standard and overall the evening was quite pleasant.
Mr Freds @ Stanley House – Blackburnthe best food i have ever had in my life and i will surely recommend others
Balti House – BlackburnCalled in on spec and got the last table for 2 at 6.30 on a Saturday evening. Smart waiters every where. Menu was limited enough to believe it's all cooked fresh, none of this 20 pages of dishes straight from the microwave! Hot and sour soup to die for, crispy duck almost too much and main meals so fresh........ Not cheap but you get what you pay for and I've never paid for better prepared Chinese food.
Yu And You – Blackburncame recommended as the best place in blackburn to eat. booked a 21st birthday party for 16 of us. Absolutely brilliant
Windmill Hotel – Blackburnhad not been in for a few years and we were very impressed and now consider ourselves regulars . well recommended
Windmill Hotel – BlackburnWe have been regulars for some time, and the atmosphere is great. I even proposed to my wife there. You do have to wait a while when its busy, but a lot of Italians do this, and I think that it adds to the atmosphere, especially if you drink whilst waiting..! If you don't want to wait, I suggest you go mid week or on a hot, sunny Saturday night when people are having Barbeques. That way you can walk straight to a table if you want. The food is really excellent. Spaghetti Amatriciana at 8 quid is a favourite, as is the Pate starter, and the prices are generally cheap considering its good quality. However, if you fancy a blow out, there's loads of fuller meals to tempt you. I agree that the tables / decor is a bit dated, but I think that this also adds to the old tratoria charm. We went to Sorrento last year, and I never say a plush "next style" leather backed chair / poncy chrome all the time I was there...? All in all, its probably the nearest that you are likely to get to a traditional Italian restaurant in the Blackburn / Preston area. You may think this is a bold statement, but we have tried a lot of Italians around the Blackburn area, i.e. Francos in ossy and Langho, The Scicilian place near the walton arms (just off the M65), Amico Mios in Clitheroe, That place in Bamber Bridge? These are all very good restaurants, but Checcos really does have an edge. The staff are also almost all Italian, and if you fancy it, they even help you with the Lingo....? So that I give a balanced view, the slightly less positive sides are that they no longer do cheap Caraffes of Wine, for those budget nights, so you have to go for the real stuff, but this is only standard price, i.e. 12 quid upwards. There specials are also very static if you go a lot (as we do), but if its your first trip, then I suppose they'll still be special to you. I have heard that they are soon to revamp the waiting area soon, so hopefully, this will sort the decor for those who like a sparkle when they go out. Hopefully, it won't lose its charm though... Enjoy..!
Checcos – BlackburnThe mid-week table d'hote menu is excellent value with a good choice, including wine. If you prefer a much wider choice then the a' la carte menu is superb with very generous portions. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Booking recommended especially at peak times.
The Pack Belthorn – BlackburnWe went to the Live Band night on one Friday. The band was great and the atmosphere was fab. We are going again very soon, cant wait!
Blues at Ewood Park – BlackburnCouldn? fault anything about the place, food, service all were outstanding. The location is wonderful. Would definitely recommend it and will definitely be returning.
Mr Freds @ Stanley House – BlackburnWe eat here nearly every weekend (mainly via takeaway) and we have never been disappointed. The salt and pepper chicken wings are a regular feature as are the salt and pepper mushrooms which are to die for. One of our party likes to go for chicken and mushroom in black pepper sauce which is really tasty. The chow mien is also very flavoursome. The restaurant is very cosy with only a few tables but I think that this adds to it's charm.
Guide Village Restaurant – BlackburnI've been meaning to write a review for this for a long time, but never found the time. This is a brilliant restaurant. The food is so fresh and creative and want you ask for more. I has duck for starters and pork for main course. DELICIOUS!!. I think most of the ingredients are locally produced. It is quite a novelle cuisine kind of restaurant, you only get small portions. But would definitely recommend this to anyone. The food is of very high standard. Its quite pricy, but why not! its worth every penny.
Northcote – BlackburnAbsolutely divine food at a price, but you do get superb quality and it is well worth it. Excellent wine list. Service does not do justice to the food and can be on the slow side.
Northcote – BlackburnThis is by far the best take-away in Blackburn. The quality and taste of the food is excellent. Free coffee on arrival, and you can watch your food being cooked. Tandori dishes, and shashlick take some beating.
Roe Lee Indian Takeaway – BlackburnI went there for the first time and I loved it, there food is the best I tried the family size 16 inch Asian style which was so tasty and filling I told my friends to order the same.
Balti House – BlackburnI have visited Kongs City quite a few times now and have to say it is the best chinese Ive eaten at. We dont live that close but we make the trip as its better than any chinese near us! The staff are very friendly and the food is brilliant. There are so many starters to chose from, i recommend the prawn toast and salt pepper squid. It is excellent value for money especially the banquets if there are a few of you.
Kong City – BlackburnVery good food, cost average, lovely people who own the place, very friendly.
