Hole In The Wall – Bristol City CentreTook my wife here to celebrate her birthday and we had a really super night. The restaurant was the perfect choice- the food was great, and the staff were lovely. Such a great place - can now understand what all the hype is about!
San Carlo – Bristol City CentreExcellent in every way we will be going very frequently now. Please note the unexpected menus. A little gem.
Cibo Ristorante – Bristol City CentreI really wanted to like this place having heard and read so many positive reviews, however I went for a meal there with a group of about ten people and it took two hours for us to get our meals! They did provide us with jugs of beer to compensate but this is poor really and I've been put off re-visiting.
Oh Calcutta – Bristol City CentreDidn't get into the ambience of this place... Good for large groups but far from ideal if you want a romantic meal for two. We chose one of the specials that was recommended to us and got the impression that they had made a big vat of the dish and it certainly wasn't individually made for us as in better class establishments. I wouldn't go back!
Oh Calcutta – Bristol City CentreSimply one of the top Indian Restaurants in Bristol. The food is without exception...divine....if you like a true Indian Restaurant experience then this is absolutely the place to go.... My husband and I love Indian food and this is joint first place with paprika in Whitchurch... please go.... you cannot fail to be impressed with the food and the ambience is fabulous.... brilliant for both groups and couples.
Kathmandu – Bristol City CentreI've eaten Mexican food countless times on both sides of the Atlantic, so having read the reviews I was really looking forward to visiting the restaurant. What a disappointment! The food was reasonably well prepared, and the service was fine, but the food was tasteless - more specifically, there were no chillies. Ask anyone what's the characteristic flavour of Mexico, and they'll say 'chillies'! So where were they? The helpful waitress said it was because Bristol people don't want them. I'm sorry, but if you don't want chillies you don't go to a Mexican restaurant. It was bland. "We can put some on the side if you want them" our apologetic waitress helpfully added, but that's not the same as cooking with them. It's a Mexican restaurant, for goodness' sake. Give people the option of leaving them out if you want, but don't make it the default position. I'm sorry, but this is one to avoid if you actually like Mexican food.
Casa Mexicana – Bristol City CentreAfter several visits, this restaurant offers unfailingly excellent food at a surprisingly reasonable price. The service is generally very good (one 'iffy' occasion, but not bad enough to spoil the evening), and a good ambience. This one should be on your list for a good evening out.
La Campagnuola – Bristol City Centrein need of money spent on the restaurant and the food which comes from the kitchen needs to be looked at in a very big way so overall was shit for the area were it . would never go back again even if they paid me.
Vincenzo’s Pizza House – Bristol City CentreMy friends and I had a fantastic evening at Goldbrick. We started off in the bar, where although the bar staff were a bit 'too cool for school' they were very good at what they do. We then went into the restaurant and it was buzzing on a Thursday night. The food was great, although the wait was quite long but the waitresses (we were served by all the staff which was a little odd)keep our drinks topped up etc . When it came to paying though the table next to us asked whether the staff got the tip that was automatically added to the bill... NO! The company takes an extra 10% on top of the already pretty heavy bill. The very embarrassed waitress told us that if we left cash on top of the 10% then they were allowed to split it. This is disgraceful! I don't care how great the restaurant is, I won't be going back. The staff are on minimum wage whilst the company is raking it in by the looks of things. As a waitress myself in years gone by I know what hard work this is. Sorry Goldbrick, but I'm disgusted, and I told the manager so.
Goldbrick House – Bristol City CentreHad a lovely romantic meal here with my boyfriend - they seated us away from the crowds and in a really nice area near the window. Superb meal and service. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially the fish dishes.
San Carlo – Bristol City CentreMy recommendation is don't go .... a restaurant which is well established and that was praised to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the area has now gone to the worst with mediocre food which is served cold and service to match .. very very dissappointing .. could serve up better food from an Indian microwave meal.
Lal Jomi Pavillion Restaurant – Bristol City CentreThis must be the best value Indian takeaway in Bristol
Ahmed’s Curry Cafe – Bristol City CentreWhat an awful evening! a group of thirty of us had a very disappointing experience. The soup was cold, the bread came out after everyone had finnished their starter, the salmon was lovely, but the mash with it was luke warm, the three people that had the risotto went hungry, because it was inedible, and others had more bone than veal. The chocolate fondant was nothing more than ordinary. At thirty pounds a head, this was not the standard of food or service we were expecting. We had had excellent meals there in the past, but certainly won't be going back.
Glassboat – Bristol City CentreIn no uncertain terms do not relate this restaurant to the high standard restaurant it used to be. I frequently went with my husband before it changed hands. I was part of a fairly large pre booked group. We had a secluded area that was separated by a curtain. The surroundings were lovely. The starters were acceptable. Unfortunately the soup was cold. As the waiter had disappeared everyone ate it and didn't grumble. The flavour was nothing that a school child could not have produced. The main course was dreadful. The Chicken was tasteless. The veal had more bone that meat. The mashed potato with the salmon was stone cold. The risotto was so over cooked it had turned to mash and three people sent it back to the kitchen. The head waiter appeared and was no help at all. His manner was incrediably rude and patronosing. (Bear in mind this was a group of professional people dining). The people who complained about the risotto had it replaced. Th replacement was even worse than the origional. This is not a hard dish to make. This again was sent back with serious complaints about the food. Ignored. Those who sent the risotto back were left with no food at all until desert. Desert was the best bit. Too be honest you can't really mess up cheese and biscuits. Unfortunatly when the coffee arrived I only had an inch full in my average sized cup and had to ask for more. The waiting staff were very good and did a good job when all diners were unhappy. The management was dreadful and after a complaint were not seen again. Sadly as it was a professional meeting we had all pre paid for the meal as I would have not paid full price otherwise. I would not recommend this place at all now to anyone.
Glassboat – Bristol City Centreit's pricey, but well worth it. a diamond and it has raised the bar in Bristol. At last a London style venue, with fantastic food, here in Bristol and not an 18 year old to be seen!
Goldbrick House – Bristol City CentreWe were extremely disappointed when we visited zero degrees on Sunday 16th September 2007. Although the food was very good, the service was appalling and the manager was wandering round whilst chewing a cocktail stick without a care in the world. Would only go back for the food but they need new and more staff.
Zerodegrees – Bristol City CentreI read the reviews on this website and was really disappointed by the quality of food I received. Part of my order was missing( take away)and I was shortchanged. I have been to many Indian restaurants in Bristol and I would not recommend this one.
