A Saturday night table for six of us resulted in two being reasonably satisfied with their choices, and four being disappointed - my wife's £14 lump of baked cod in a tired tomato sauce being the lowest point. We loved the setting and the service, but felt there was no great talent in the kitchen. Dry pizza and bland pasta made this a place we won't hurry back to.

Aqua Restaurant and Bar – Bath

Expensive for what it is. The food is bland and is not authentic. Service slow and unimpressive. The only South Indian eaterie available in Bristol- I wouldn't bother visiting again. If you want good South Indian food, stick to Eastham in London.

Krishna Inn – Clifton

Main snag ( if you want a cheap snack ) is that it has not been a Beefeater since last Feb.

Good reviews of The Old Spot in Wells led me to book a table for six to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. On arrival we were presented with an almost empty restaurant, lacking in atmosphere; a situation which remained largely unaltered throughout the evening. The licensee was, sadly, somewhat ill-informed about the licensing laws relating to youngsters, despite one of my guests identifying himself as a policeman with expert knowledge of the subject. Not the end of the world in this particular case, but not a perfect start to the meal. The menu was sensibly limited although with a good range of choices. Too large a variety can often lead to lack of quality I believe. The food was good, served beautifully and reasonably quickly, but overall it lacked the sparkle that previous reviews hinted at. Moreover, the relatively high prices were not reflected in the quality of the meal which, whilst good, was certainly not outstanding. The fire alarm went off twice during the course of our meal along with two large crashes in the bar for which no explanation or guidance, worryingly in the case of the fire alarms, was forthcoming! In order to spare my daughter any embarrassment on this special occasion we left before coffee and port without making any comments to the staff. Overall I feel that The Old Spot has an enviably wide range of wines on offer and a good, albeit unexceptional menu, but is let down by lack of atmosphere and relatively high prices. Could do better!

Just had a meal there as a treat for volunteers in our community project. Had a dispute when trying to use invitation discount books - staff were aggressive and rude towards female members of party. They argued over a few quid that was being paid from a charity. Would never go back again - mainly as a result of attitude and service

We would like to congratulate Sousta for a wonderful eating experience. Probably the best Greek restaurant in the UK.

Took my wife here to celebrate her birthday and we had a really super night. The restaurant was the perfect choice- the food was great, and the staff were lovely. Such a great place - can now understand what all the hype is about!

I really wanted to like this place having heard and read so many positive reviews, however I went for a meal there with a group of about ten people and it took two hours for us to get our meals! They did provide us with jugs of beer to compensate but this is poor really and I've been put off re-visiting.

Simply one of the top Indian Restaurants in Bristol. The food is without exception...divine....if you like a true Indian Restaurant experience then this is absolutely the place to go.... My husband and I love Indian food and this is joint first place with paprika in Whitchurch... please go.... you cannot fail to be impressed with the food and the ambience is fabulous.... brilliant for both groups and couples.

Didn't get into the ambience of this place... Good for large groups but far from ideal if you want a romantic meal for two. We chose one of the specials that was recommended to us and got the impression that they had made a big vat of the dish and it certainly wasn't individually made for us as in better class establishments. I wouldn't go back!

I've eaten Mexican food countless times on both sides of the Atlantic, so having read the reviews I was really looking forward to visiting the restaurant. What a disappointment! The food was reasonably well prepared, and the service was fine, but the food was tasteless - more specifically, there were no chillies. Ask anyone what's the characteristic flavour of Mexico, and they'll say 'chillies'! So where were they? The helpful waitress said it was because Bristol people don't want them. I'm sorry, but if you don't want chillies you don't go to a Mexican restaurant. It was bland. "We can put some on the side if you want them" our apologetic waitress helpfully added, but that's not the same as cooking with them. It's a Mexican restaurant, for goodness' sake. Give people the option of leaving them out if you want, but don't make it the default position. I'm sorry, but this is one to avoid if you actually like Mexican food.

After several visits, this restaurant offers unfailingly excellent food at a surprisingly reasonable price. The service is generally very good (one 'iffy' occasion, but not bad enough to spoil the evening), and a good ambience. This one should be on your list for a good evening out.
