In my view, this is one of the best Chinese takeaway's in the South Birmingham area. The food is really v good and tastes quite authentic, esp the vegetarian fried rice, which has cashew nuts in it. The staff are also very friendly and chatty. The place is very clean and the price is fine for the quality of food. I will def return! Just one important thing to mention - this place is in Barnt Green, not Bromsgrove.

Walking into the packed restaurant we were dubious that we would actually sit down on time - we were right! Our table was booked for 9, we sat down at 9.40 and got our starter at 10 - we actually left the restaurant at midnight! The service was good but you get the impression that the restaurant runs similar to a cheap airline - overbooking and hoping that not everyone turns up! That said, the food was delicious and the waiters were attentive. Well worth a visit if you're not in a hurry!

We came out of a local pub and we walked down to this restaurant the service was good the food as you would want tasty and enjoyable, go if you?e local, we? go again nice place.

I have been a veggie for 15 years and have generally been disappointed with the food served up when we eat out. At the Gate Hangs Well I was in for a treat. The selection of real ales was wonderful and the 'Char Grilled Vegetable Stack' was the best vegetarian meal that I have ever tasted! Outstanding! The atmosphere was fabulous, the staff were very friendly. All in all an amazing night and we will definitely be back!!! THANK YOU, Gate Hangs Well!!!

Excellent atmosphere, good food. One of the last privately owned pubs serving good food and beer in the area. Same owners for last 30 years or so. Well recommended.

The food and service is always of an excellent quality always fresh fish and lots of specials to choose from - The best Calamari anywhere!

If you enjoy a Quality meal taken from a mouth watering menu followed by a Superb cask beer or a glass of wine then look no further. The friendliness of all the staff and the comfortable surroundings makes for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Nothing was to much trouble. My wife and I would certainly recommend The Gate Hangs Well

This is a Carvery (with a small additional menu if preferred) which offers a good choice of meats and vegetables, although they can't seem to get the roast parsnips right! If you order a dessert at the same time as your main meal, you pay a lot less for the dessert. The staff are friendly but sometimes rushed off their feet and so the service suffers. However, the manager is very helpful. If you want to chat whilst you eat, don't go on 'Music Night' - the sound is far too loud for the size of the pub - a problem suffered at most small pubs these days, I fear.

Although the service is a little slow, the excellent home-cooked food is well worth the wait. Generous portions served HOT, very reasonably priced, a real pub atmosphere without all the fancy trimmings. Give it a try if you have time to relax; meals served at lunchtime only.
