Lovely lunch, large portions

First visit under current ownership, booked in advance, very busy but excellent service. Friendly atmosphere, excellent Sunday lunch, will definitely visit again. Perhaps they could consider an OAP Sunday lunch as the meals are quite large too avoid waste.

We went for Sunday lunch and had the whole family roast chicken between 3 of us. There was plenty of food for 3 adults but would have been nicer if there were more vegetables :) However, we would still order again if we went back.

Nice food, attentive service, nice atmosphere Would be better if there were more vegetarian options.

Came for a meal with my dad, first time we’d been since the new owners have done up the place. Having been coming here since I was a kid it was so nice to see it’s been upgraded but still with that family owned touch. The drinks were great value, my starter wasn’t mediocre in flavour but could tell it was quality ingredients, we had the risotto balls. For main I had the chicken Shintzel and dad the cod and chips, we both loved our meals clearing our plates! Great portions, came out piping hot and amazing quality and flavour, we will definitely go back again. We had no room for deserts but the ones we saw coming out if the kitchen looked amazing, will be getting next time!

Excellent service and food

Busy, friendly pub with good atmosphere. Fantastic food, very tasty and well presented. Excellent bar and waitress service considering how busy it was. Rebooked for Monday lunchtime and would thoroughly recommend

Visited on the 24/7/21 at 12:45 All three of us enjoyed our meals, I particularly loved the steak and ale pie, lovely rich gravy and plenty of meat, we'll go again just for that pie

Lovely food, great portions and brilliant service from the friendly and attentive staff. Joe was an awesome host. Would recommend, felt safe as first time out in 18 months due to COVID.

Simply the best Italian restaurant in Wales, been eating here and using there superb takeaway service for over 20 years the quality never changes and the welcome is all ways top draw!

Nice place, nice view, ok meal. would go there again but for the dogs allowed in the restaurant restaurant - not for us ! four /five dogs near our table. Maybe keep just one small section for dog and dog owners. this used to be unhygienic. what happened ?

Lovely pub and lovely barstaff. Unfortunately landlady treated me like a disease to not be touched despite the fact that she didn’t even have a 5 minute conversation with me. Highly disgraceful attitude from landlady. No fault in bar staff 5/5 each for them. Review mainly reflects foul attitude on landlady

Lovely little establishment and lovely bar staff. Unfortunate that the landlady is an extremely rude piece of work who wouldn't give me the time of day because she simple didn't know me. Absolutely stinking behaviour - if you're not a regular you likely aren't welcome.

beautiful restaurant in Newport. Always pop in for a drink or a bite when shopping at Friars Walk.

My wife and I have always gone there every September every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food is fantastic. The staff are friendly and brillant. This year will bhe extra special as its my ifes 40th also.

My children organised a birthday party at the Cross Inn. The food ,the staff,the accommodation were excellent.The rooms were fitted out to a high standard,the breakfast choice and standard was very good.The party was very enjoyable all left happy We will return.Derrick Deakin.
