Shepherds Inn The – CarlisleFriendly & informal.Lots to choose from on the menu.Best to book at weekends.Very popular with locals.
Rose and Crown – CarlisleCalled in for lunch on Sunday 17-02-08 on way home to Liverpool from Fife. Just 2 minutes off the motorway, car park at rear. Good variation on the menu, settled for Beef & Ale pie, served with chips and vegetables. The beef was very tender and in a perfect gravy, not too thick or too runny, great chips, vegetables of carrots and sugar snap peas cooked to perfection and presented perfectly. My wife had the Cajun Chicken Sizzler, also perfect. The standard of the menu, meal and presentation would not be out of place in a top class restaurant. My son who was with us, is a trainee chef in his 2nd year and could not find any faults { and he can be very 'picky' }. Extremely good value at the price. This chef knows the business and must have had quality 'training', as it shows in abundance.

Davids – CarlisleFrom living in carlisle and having experienced all of carlisles currys houses. My partner and i would strongly suggest going there! This is the closet you will get to a proper curry!!Particularly recommend the Lamb Saag and Lamb Jalfrezi .....and get them spiced up the chefs are happy to cater to your taste.Plus the poppadoms and pickles are amazing, especially the chilli and lime pickles. Try it you wont be let down!
Stanwix Tandoori – CarlisleWe came to stay for a couple of nights and ended up staying for two weeks, fantastic, relaxing with very friendly service. A home from home. Highly recommended.
Heather Glen Country Hotel – CarlisleA lovely warm welcome awaited us as we booked into the Golden Fleece Inn. This is a family run pub and it shows in their commitment to providing customer service. No ask was too much. We were greeted with a pot of tea and fruit scones! The food in the bar was very good and reasonably priced and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We had a lovely three days staying at this inn and we will be returning again soon.
we were recommended the royal oak as a place to stay originally, the stay was comfortable but it was the food they really impressed us really delicious home cooked food. the staff were lovely!

Almonds – CarlisleRelaxed, charming and welcoming. We have been a few times now on separate occasions and the food was outstanding. The chef and waitress should be given a medal. The combination of fresh food using local produce is amazing and with superb service it works really well. I don't think it will be long before things really kick off for them. All the very best will be back again very soon.
Almonds – CarlisleFantastic food the best i have ever tasted, The chef has an eye for detail in the dishes he creates, and pulls them off with perfection, probably the best steak in England. Service a little slow but a lot of effort was made to make our night enjoyable. top marks rot a top restaurant. Long may it continue.
Davids – CarlisleFantastic food, ideal venue for a romantic dinner for two or alternatively a group booking or lunch is good value Monday - Thursdays. Our favourite restaurant at the moment. We can highly recommend it!
Davids – CarlisleThe old Arcadian restaurant is a family friendly with exceptional food. When we go to Carlisle we tend to go there for dinner. I would recommend it to anyone who asks me what is like.
Cavern Bar – CarlisleI had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, was made to feel very welcome from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. The food and service was excellent, I couldn't fault it. I will be back as often as I can
Keez Bistro – CarlisleMy wife and I first discovered Keez because we were looking for a place to go for a change of scenery and somewhere nice to eat to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed! We went on a Wednesday night. They have specials on Tuesday & Wednesday. 2 courses and a bottle of wine for £35. This is really good value for money and the food was extremely nice. Keez has a lovely relaxing atmosphere with a really nice welcome from Lou & Ian the owners. Since going to Keez that night we have become regular visitors to the Bistro. Friday night steak night is great. Home made steak and chips for £8.95 as well as the ever changing menu to choose from. The menu does change every month with something different to try and something that would probably suite most people. They have a great selection of hand picked wines as well as a very enjoyable house wine. Please try it for yourself and I am sure you wont be disappointed.
Keez Bistro – CarlisleThe fact that my wife and me make a 130 mile round trip to eat at this fine restaurant is proof enough of our liking for its exceptional food and atmosphere. We are always made welcome and the attention to our culinary requirements is first class. Please do not let the "corner shop" exterior blind you to the delights that await inside
Alexandros – Carlisle3 small plates or side dishes for £28, valid Tuesday to Friday 12 noon to 5pm.
