Bank Holiday Monday 24th March we drove down to Carlisle for the day from Glasgow, Scotland. Over 100miles. Thought we could do some shopping and go somewhere for lunch. From the outside Franco looks ok - we went in and got seated, Just. It was so cramped, tables where so close to each other. We ordered a garlic bread to start, followed by a Baked potato with savoury mince, and a cheese and tomato pizza. The garlic bread was very greasy, it wasn't even bread or a pizza base for that matter. flat tortia wrap floating in a bed of oil. The standard of the main courses didnt improve either. My baked potato was squashed into a bowl with a side salad crushed in at the side. It was very watery at the bottom of the bowl. Dunno if the BP was frozen or just served from a bowl of water. It was more like minestrone soup with a BP on top. Improvements: Bigger plate for baked pototoes - improve the presentation of the food so its not all crammed into a bowl. Use the same 'set' of bowls - the couple sitting beside us each had a different style of bowl from me - looks better if they match. No watery baked potatoes and get decent pizza bases.

The first night we visited we were made to feel right at home. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is just the right mixture of friendly and professional. We've been back lots of times to take advantage of the mid-week offers as well as at the weekends.

Called in for lunch on Sunday 17-02-08 on way home to Liverpool from Fife. Just 2 minutes off the motorway, car park at rear. Good variation on the menu, settled for Beef & Ale pie, served with chips and vegetables. The beef was very tender and in a perfect gravy, not too thick or too runny, great chips, vegetables of carrots and sugar snap peas cooked to perfection and presented perfectly. My wife had the Cajun Chicken Sizzler, also perfect. The standard of the menu, meal and presentation would not be out of place in a top class restaurant. My son who was with us, is a trainee chef in his 2nd year and could not find any faults { and he can be very 'picky' }. Extremely good value at the price. This chef knows the business and must have had quality 'training', as it shows in abundance.

From living in carlisle and having experienced all of carlisles currys houses. My partner and i would strongly suggest going there! This is the closet you will get to a proper curry!!Particularly recommend the Lamb Saag and Lamb Jalfrezi .....and get them spiced up the chefs are happy to cater to your taste.Plus the poppadoms and pickles are amazing, especially the chilli and lime pickles. Try it you wont be let down!

A lovely warm welcome awaited us as we booked into the Golden Fleece Inn. This is a family run pub and it shows in their commitment to providing customer service. No ask was too much. We were greeted with a pot of tea and fruit scones! The food in the bar was very good and reasonably priced and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We had a lovely three days staying at this inn and we will be returning again soon.

Relaxed, charming and welcoming. We have been a few times now on separate occasions and the food was outstanding. The chef and waitress should be given a medal. The combination of fresh food using local produce is amazing and with superb service it works really well. I don't think it will be long before things really kick off for them. All the very best will be back again very soon.

Fantastic food the best i have ever tasted, The chef has an eye for detail in the dishes he creates, and pulls them off with perfection, probably the best steak in England. Service a little slow but a lot of effort was made to make our night enjoyable. top marks rot a top restaurant. Long may it continue.

The old Arcadian restaurant is a family friendly with exceptional food. When we go to Carlisle we tend to go there for dinner. I would recommend it to anyone who asks me what is like.
