Brewers Fayre – CarlisleOn a weekend visit to Carlisle we were recommended this restaurant by the teller in the local Abbey BS and it is just as well as it is not the place you would find by accident or in passing located as it is on it's own down a dark street at the side of the station. When we got there it was full, a good sign! We studied the comprehensive menu in a lounge area by the bar before being shown to our table. Afterwards the 6 of us discussed the place and were unanimous, for decor, ambience and atmosphere 4* tables a bit too close together for comfort, for service 5* attentive but not rushed, quality of food and selection 5*+ outstanding, price 4* a tad on the pricey side but still considered worth it. Next time we're in Carlisle it's a definite.
Ristorante Michelangelo – CarlisleThoroughly enjoyed a meal at Casa Romana this week - they were good enough to squeeze us in on a Saturday night. The steak with pepper sauce was sublime (good homemade chips too), and the mussels were fresh and very, very tasty! Massive portions (a main course with a coffee was more than sufficient), excellent value and great service from the owner and his staff. Definitely recommended and we'll be back!
Casa Romana – Carlisle – CarlisleThe Viceroy is a three times winner of a place in the British Curry awards for 2006, 2007 and 2008! Top three restaurants in the North West. Absolutely fantastic food, superb atmosphere and very friendly. I would particularly recommend the chicken vindaloo - hot but full of flavour! Does a special price meal on Sundays and Wednesdays too. Well worth a look if you're in Carlisle. If you know the area, the restaurant is close to the famous landmark of Dixon's chimney!
Viceroy – CarlisleHaving used this establishment for the past three years as a meeting place for a society catering for thirty members I was a bit non plussed to be asked for a deposit - especially as the food is average to say the least. They obviously do not need the business
On a recent visit to Carlisle to see family and friends we arranged to eat at Keez Bistro Restaurant. I am always nervous about eating out as my daughter is a Coeliac (cannot eat any foods containing wheat, barley, rye or oats). I need not have worried, having called the restaurant in advance, they were well aware of the condition and proceeded to go through the menu with me and identify which meals would be suitable for my daughter. For the first time ever my daughter could chose more than one option on the menu! and they made sure she had gluten free bread and also a special dessert. This made it very special evening for my daughter, for the first time every eating out she could relax and enjoy herself without worrying about explaining her condition. A big thank you to Ian and Louise for all the effort and attention, wonderful food in a relaxing atmosphere, I would recommend Keez Bistro to any Coeliac sufferer and would suggest as we did they call in advance to go through the menu. Wonderful food, excellent value for money and will definitely be booking again. Thanks for a fabulous evening.

Keez Bistro – CarlisleMy partner and I went to Keez for the first time yesterday evening and we will definitely be going back. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout the evening and the surroundings comfortable and smart. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals as the food was nothing short of excellent. Having the option to return to the seating area to finish our wine after the meal was a real treat. I have already been recommending Keez to my colleagues this morning and cannot believe that I hadn't found the place sooner-what a gem of a bistro!
Keez Bistro – CarlisleFANTASTIC FOOD AND GOOD SERVICE, BEST FOOD WE'VE HAD IN YEARS. VERY GOOD PRICES.
Francos – CarlisleWe ate here for my boyfriends birthday. It was absolutely fan-tast-ic! I left the restaurant not too full i felt sick and not too empty that i was still hungry. Everything was perfect. Can't fault it at all, i recommend this hidden gem to all! I'll be going back!
Gallo Rosso – Carlislelovely food. lovely people. hard to believe you are in denton holme when you are eating food as good as that.
Holme Bistro – CarlisleWe love Giannis! Its the Best restaurant in Carlisle - nowhere comes close! We love the choice of seafood they offer there's not many places in Carlisle offering such a great choice! We eat there regularly, its so friendly & relaxed, the wine is great - the best Italian restaurant we have ever eaten in! I would recommend it to anyone, couples, families its perfect!
Giannis Pizzeria – CarlisleAte here in April 2008 and was very impressed by the friendly service, the lovely decor and the good Peroni beer. My risotto was good and my friends’ pizzas also looked very tasty.
Francos – CarlisleI have recently eaten at the Crown Hotel's Conservatory Restaurant in Wetheral, It was a great dining experience, we arrived late(as usual), the restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was excellent. We were quickly seen to and our order taken, the meal and the service were first class, we were attended to very well throughout our visit. The bread is worthy of special note as it is home made daily, a unusual thing these days, infact nothing we ate was bought in pre-prepared, everything was made fresh on the premises. A thoroughly delightful experience. D Colson
Crown Hotel – CarlisleI have always enjoyed fine dining and as i was staying at the Crown Hotel on business i thought i would give their restaurant a go. It was fantastic! The staff were incredibly curtious, and made me feel very at home. The restaurant overlooks the fantastic gardens and makes a perfect setting for a meal. I opted for the smoked mackerel spring salad to start. For the main course i thought i would try the Ullswater beef fillet. They seem to source all their food locally which i think helps with the fresh taste. All in all it was one of the most pleasant dining experiences i have had in quite some time.
