After shamefully walking out of two other restaurants already in Bourton on the water because they weren’t up to standard (yes, we’re fussy) we were overjoyed to finally come across The Croft (and so hungry) and it was worth the wait! The food was great, we had two of possibly the best burgers we’ve ever had and the staff were exceptional and so friendly! Next time we’re in Bourton we’ll be heading straight to the Croft!

We had dinner here over the weekend and it was lovely! Our first time in Bourton and this was in a perfect location near the water. The food was delicious, we had the sausages and mash, the fish cakes, and the sea bass (which was a special of the day) and it was all amazing. The decor was beautiful and would love to come back here again one day. Covid restrictions meant we had to log in and the menus were all digital which were all very easy to navigate. Thank you so much for having us!

Staying in stow on the wold. So booked for Sunday lunch, food and service was really good. But couldn’t believe that they actually charge you £2.50 for extra gravy for your meal. Queried it but was told it was on the menu. Never heard anything like it.

This has long been the favourite place when visiting Stow and despite all the challenges it did not disappoint. Somehow the staff manage to remain cheerful and positive and our steak and chips were delicious and as we remembered from previous visits. The onion rings are the best anywhere! Of course one can't give maximum marks for atmosphere in these 'distanced' times but it stays at the top of our list.

The food was fantastic and we really had a great time in The Croft. The service was fantastic and we were really looked after. We will definitely be going back

This restaurant has a lovely location by the water in Bourton on the Water. Due to the Covid pandemic as per all leisure businesses we logged onto the Track & Trace app. However we then had to 'book' a table as we stood at the entrance. ...just to have a coffee. We had to give all our personal details... name / mobile / email / postcode.... it was so time consuming & so unecessary! We completely appreciate all businesses are facing difficult times. However the tables were not well spaced out & people especially the staff were very close to us on a number of occassions.....not even 1 metre.. The young guy who served us had to be advised our table was still dirty obviously from a previous guest.... that was concerning. Then we witnessed the staff stroking the little dog that belongs to the restaurant ... the staff member did not wash his hands before coming to serve us with the coffee & pastries!!!! We would advise further training re the Covid pandemic & hygiene necessities is most definitely required.

We booked a table for breakfast and wasn’t disappointed it was delicious super tasty food I presume locally sourced the decor was lovely and staff very attentive defo return on our next visit .

We had a pleasant dinner here in late September. The pub was clearly taking COVID seriously, with the staff wearing masks and tables well spaced etc. Food was decent as well.

I regret to say that I can’t agree with the reviews below. Our lunch at the Talbot was disappointing. Even making allowances for the difficulties of running the restaurant during Covid, the food, atmosphere and service were poor. The loos were not clean and had water all over the floor and the service was perfunctory and reflected a lack of Covid training. All three dishes we ordered were bland and made up made with the cheapest of ingredients, the worst of which were spread in place of butter, cheap flabby bacon in the salad and a highly processed chocolate cake. As a major hospitality supplier in a town so popular with tourists, the Talbot needs to pull its finger out and try harder. A cheery welcome, fresh/home made food and attention to detail are not difficult things to achieve. Other restaurants and cafés are managing it even in these difficult times.

Booked a table for a meatless roast on a Sunday. Really well organised, greeted at the door and asked to sanitise our hands, they already had our details from the booking so seated us at table and took our order for drinks and meals. The roast was really lovely, cracking roast potatoes and the veg was all cooked really well, not soggy like some you get. Finished off with Apple and blackberry crumble and custard which was delicious! Would definitely visit again.

Great food and service. The staff followed Covid guidance and there was lots of space between our table and others. The lasagne and steak we had was lovely!

Booked for a meal whilst on holiday in Stow. All Covid precautions in place, but would like to have seen staff possibly wearing masks, although not required. Pleasant and helpful welcome on arrival. Tables socially distanced. Ordered Whitebait to share for starters, then Ham, Egg & Chips and Beef Lasagne for mains with a bottle of Pinot Blush to drink, which was nice and cold. All food was plentiful and tasty and very much home cooked style. We enjoyed our evening, service was good.

Had a great meal here. My partner had a steak, cooked to perfection and I had the meat pie. Absolutely Delicious ..... commendations to the chef.! Staff were really friendly too and felt very safe. Staff were very much on top of the current hygiene rules.

Very good experience

We came for a family lunch out with our wheelchair-bound 92 year-old father. The Talbot is one of the easiest places to get into with a wheelchair, and staff were very accommodating. We all had fairly simply lunches, which suited us perfectly - what was most important to us, was the space, which felt clean and uncluttered.

Had lunch here . Mixed ploughman’s Excellent food. Very generous portions Would highly recommend
